Well.. that statement was a falsehood until you showed up, yo!
I don't value his opinion enough to protest actually.
But Mario does raise a valid point.. and unless Mazda Speed is actually Lord (which is VERY possible, or I could just be paranoid) then there's another of our worst that hasn't chimed in.
Pikatwo and Mario I'm lumping in.
Yojimbo hasn't pissed me off enough for me to consider him so bad as to be lumped in with you guys.
OKay a few people I can make educated guesses at, but what exactly makes us the worst posters of PD? Cause we don't fully endores your wacky Ron Paul worshipping paranoid, fringe society beliefs? Welcome to the Internet, Captain Cracker.
The only reason he could have for calling me a bad poster would be an intense jealousy of my uberness.
Abortion is not covered by the first ammendment.Quote:
I'm all about freedom of speech, so they are infinity free to believe what they want, say what they want, feel what they want, screw who they want, marry who they want, abort whatever they want, smoke what they want, etc.
BUT SO AM I.
The government has no right to order me to harbor a parasite growing on my uterus for 9 months. If I want to do away with it, I will.
Silly cheetah
Your just mad that this thread isn't about Ron Paul, 9/11 being an inside Job, or Debating Socialism with Tim
I guess you like rich white boys like Yojimbo, so I guess that;s why he isn't counted
who would make it onto rc's list of good posters
Of course, the complete collection isn't super complete without RedCheetah including himself! Seriously, what's your problem, Mr Myspace blogger? I've never spoken to you directly nor acknowledged anything you've posted in the history of this forum, how could I possibly have pissed you off?
I'm not even that active!
Yeah, anything that's even REMOTELY critical of something must be slander, nothing can be based on research and facts. Obviously.Quote:
Well yeah but the way you guys argue it's not really criticism, it's more like slandor.
You haven't said anything other than basically "Christianity sucks" in various forms over and over and making me seem like an idiot for suggesting otherwise.
True there is plenty of random baseless antichristianity taunts slung aroudn a bit on here, but there's also been plenty of reasonable religious discussion. Go check the Theology Megathread. Read it. I'm sure there are several other threads on here with intellectual discussion about it.
But allowing myself to play Devil's Advocate for a moment, here's a few reasons these jerks have a negative view of Christianity:
-According to hardcore religious nuts, and the average downhome undereducated religious person, the Earth is about 6,000 years old, Geological and fossil evidence seems to point to more than millions.
- Acording to historical/archaelogical accounts, plenty of people worshipped other things, before the birth of Abraham. While we have the Bible (and for the purposes of this discussion we can't count it as an infallible resource) to give us the Adam and Eve creation scenario, Judaism/Christian History really begins with Abraham, as the founding father of the nation of Israel and a far far descendant of the human piece of Christ. What happened to all the other gods?
- THe Bible is full of contradictions and if taken literally downright impossibillities. Now sure, some of this is where Faith comes in, but for someone to try and be convinced of an Omnipresent, Omnipotent deity that Science can't prove... they need something a little less contradictory than what the Old and New Testaments give us.
- Have you ever read the Old Testament? I won't go into my particular beliefs on the subject of the differences between Yaweh(the Father) and Christ(the Son) but God is a really MEAN guy in the Old Testament.
- People have used Christianity as an excuse to harm people, wage war and a host of attrocities over the years. This tends to upset people.
THat's a few reasons why people on here bash Christianity.
Me, I'm Christian, I'm all for it! Go Jesus!
BTW, as an addendum to my earlier advice. You shouldn't be whining anyways. If you want to share your beliefs here, talk about how you feel fine, but don't get uptight if someone throws a fit. My main Man J.C. would say turn the other cheek. Christians need to have a humble attitude at least when it comes to some stuff, or we're just gonna come off as more of the same bumbling, irrational jackasses, yo.
Also, there is very little probability that a giant bearded man is floating on a cloud somewhere in space judging my actions on earth with a stern expression on his face. I seriously doubt that this is even a remote possibility.
I doubt god in the same way that I doubt there is a second moon for earth, the same way I doubt there is life (still living) on Mars, and the same way I doubt that George Carlin is going to knock on my door in the next five minutes (but he's dead so that is more likely in my opinion than god's existence. Jesus, I hope I haven't asked for a visit from the netherworld from George Carlin, while the guy was hilarious I don't want his shade telling me jokes.)
If you want me to believe in god, give me hard physical evidence of his existence (the bible doesn't count.) Until you can supply me with my demands I will continue to doubt him, but I will concede that until disproved, anything is possible.
Oh, and until supplied with hard physical evidence (why does that sound remotely erotic to me?) I will continue to spread my beautiful logic wherever the internet exists.
It's been almost 20 minutes and George Carlin's ghost hasn't shown up yet. So I think I'm safe. Thank god. (ironic?)

Those are all my posts on theology that I could find, and only one of them addresses Christianity directly. I don't even imply that 'Christianity sucks'.
Putting the high improbability that god exists aside, as a theory, Christianity does not suck at all; it's not Christ I dislike but his followers. If people lived their life by the new testament without all the brimstone and fire the world would probably be a better place.
The same can be said of most religions.
They were designed by men as a guideline to live a good life with fairness for their own culture in mind. They were written to serve as a shepherd for a flock of mindless drones. Have you ever actually read the bible? If you do, with an open mind, you will easily see this as fact. If you approach it with a scientific outlook you will clearly see that the existence of such a superbeing is extremely unlikely.
Now, logic aside, lets examine pure facts.
Somewhere around 300ad one of the Caesars took the texts that now make up the Bible and edited it greatly. The true preachings of Christ no longer exist. What you have is a highly edited Romanized book of proverbs designed to make the Roman people obey their Emperor unquestioningly. In fact, it is very probable that Christ was not even supposed to come from a virgin mother or that he had any divinity originally.
If you look at the parallels of the story you will see that ... actually I just got bored with typing. My words will fall on deaf ears at any rate.
Also I would like to point out that most of the populace needs such a guideline. They need to be given purpose through religion, they need a shepherd such as Christ to give their life meaning.
So are you a sheep in need of a shepherd or can you think for yourself?
Self actualize, enjoy the journey, and leave such feeble needs behind.
Le cat I think you are missing a point.
how did we get here. science and religion can't explain it.
Science explains it rather nicely.
no...... it breaks the law of conservation of energy
how do you explain away that.
