Hmm, interesting. Keep up your experiments midnight, and report any findings to me.
Also, While doing all this, could someone look into these three other things for me? In the serebii post, he mentions three phenomena. The “White Hand Sprite”, “Ghost Animation”, and the “Buried Alive Model”, all of which take place in the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town. If someone would read that part of the serebii post and look into it I'd be very grateful.
I just have earbuds handy. I've listened to it once, but with pauses in between (Dial up+loading=ARRGH!). No abnormalities. I'm going to reply it, but set up audio recording via Audacity and test the variables in the morning. (And at school, so if I die, it's on them)
Hmm, after you download it or w/e, try listening to it without any breaks or anything.
Also, school is a great place to die, but still, Id rather you didn't becuase even though it'd be an interesting peice for the file, there's no one who'd be able to report your findings to me, which means your death wouldn't be recorded as a result of LTS.
The fileformats described in these aren't usable Gameboy formats. A GB can't run flash (.swf) WAV, or GIF. It uses crappier tech than that.Quote:

It's past midnight (Ironic?) and I STILL haven't downloaded it... Dial up is slow. I listened to it about 5 times, 3 without any breaks in the song, but about 2 min. in between. My head hurts. Could be to the fact I'm staring at a big glass box, but...
Eh, take a break from listening to it. Sounds like the conditions aren't right for clear results tonight...
The whole image part and the suicides are an obvious hoax. But the use of dual frequencies is pretty legitimate, and it was used.
So, while reading the serebii thread, I came across this link. http://sonicsatam.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2211 The first post was a quote of something I've already read, but in the posts following someone discusses the binaural beats and the effects they could cause. I'm not sure I believe it just cuase it's the internet, but it's starting to look like spending too much time in lavender town really could fuck some people up.
Also, some fag stole my name.
Actually solly, I've got a lot of research to do now, but it may be possible that this could rarely cause a suicide. but it's gonna be a pain to fully say yes or no. for one thing, everyone seems to hear it differently, age doesn't seem to be a factor at all.
This might be worth more than I thought. I didn't think I'd get so much out of this story. I'll definately have to post my 13+ pages of material and such when this is said and done.
I studied the wikipedia page on binaural beats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_beats). Research done into them right now show that they can activate certain brainwaves depending on the frequencies (e.g. if the frequency matched Alpha waves, the person would feel mroe relaxed). I suppose you could create a frequency that would match a brain-wave more focused upon fear or whatever.
Yeah, I plan to look into the info from those posts tomorrow. I need to go to bed now though.
Also, now that I've removed that bs story from the file, I only have 6 pages of info.
After about 20 seconds I began to hear some undertones that definitely didn't feel comfortable. The sound just seemed to go through and through my head. It's quite heavy and it's there.
Thanks trix. You seem to be one of the ones that doesn't get the negative effects. Part of the problem with this is that everyone hears it differently, so it affects everyone in very different ways.
I didn't listen to it more than twenty seconds :P
Just made out the droning undertones and listened to it enough so I know it was disturbing. Messing with my head does not appeal to me (especially when I'm not in the greatest of moods)

I've started a case study, having kids at school listen to it... I've got a four man team!
Ugh, shit gave me a headache.
I'm trying to download it while i do homework, coolio, no?
I have pain when I move while listening to it, so when I started swaying back and forth, my lower back felt like something was pushing on it. My right shoulder hurts because I was looking at other websites while listening to the song. About a minute into the song, my right eye (in the area closest to my nose) started to tingle, as while as my lips. My left hand has what feels like a muscle pain from the top of my palm to my fingers.
But overall, I feel fine. I'm 17 though, and above the "suicidal ages". Still, I definitely feel sad and creeped out, though that's probably just from my childhood and me getting nightmares from this song when I was 5.
But I COULD hear the difference from the American version and this version. Some people on Youtube claim they can't.
Have you played Green? I wish I read Japanese so I could...
No, I haven't.
