maynard is my favorite lyricist, writing "Right in Two" and "3 Libras", and probably my 2nd favorite male singer under Josh Homme (its a personal taste).
interesting fact: the rhythm guitarist in Queens of the Stone Age (the band Josh Homme leads) is the lead guitarist in APC.
(i just felt like posting that there xD)
APC is just full of really talented musicians.
I bet you'd be a fan of Crue and Sixx AM if you gave them a chance. The lyrics that Nikki Sixx writes sort of have the same *feel* as some of MJK's stuff. I can't describe it better than that x_x
i did like the songs i heard from sixx, i just think its very mainstream sounding. maby i need to listen to an album all the way through, but it felt like a more mature "sick puppies" upon first listen.
crue is cool, just not my thing lol
you did hear their radio release as opposed to the album
in the album one song bleeds to another and a few have commentary, there is an instrumental... its actually very good
the radio stuff is different
Fuck you guys, no one responded to my little mermaid post.
I love the little mermaid
though it is way more mainstream than say apc or tool...
To say apc?
headdesk
Its just like jites, no one will never tell me and I will never know. It took me 3 years before anyone told me what AFK was for real.
Just Urban Dictionary it.
And that's why Rayne should be in the cool people's circle
apc = a perfect circle
its a band
afk means away from keyboard
I figured out AFK this December.
jite means many things, and not one is related to another
if youd asked me I'd have told you...
Nah Tool is better, A Perfect Circle have mastered that swarthy, ambient sound but really Tool have written songs for the ages.
I don't know what could be more classic than 3 Libras, or Brena, or Magdalena.
i agree w/ keke. I've always liked apc better than tool. (but really any maynard is gold).
when i was in highschool i wanted to name my daughter (if i had one) Magdalena.
Puscifer, bro. (he did a p. good job with ambient trance "rock")
but seriously, i enjoy tool a little more because 10,000 days and aenima had wonderful album organization as well as memorable songs, talent, the greatest songwriter on the planet, and actually great deals of ambiance. "Right in Two", "Third Eye", and "rosetta stoned" seal tool as being superior to APC imho.
3 libras is damn good though (and the only APC song i learned and intend to always remember)
Thirteenth Step is just as good as Aenima, and I think The Package surpasses any song on their in quality, and that's just one song.
I've listened to a lot of Tool, and it's really a very good band, but APC has better musicians, and (for the most part) better lyrics. I could take just the lyrics of any APC song and it just reads like poetry.
Take Judith from Mer de Noms as example:
You're such an inspiration
For the ways that I will
Never, ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you
How your savior has abandoned you
Fuck your God, your Lord, your Christ
He did this, took all you had and
Left you this way, still you pray, never stray, never
Taste of the fruit, never thought to question "Why?"
It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed
He did it all for you...
He did it all for you...
Oh so many ways for me to show you
How your dogma has abandoned you
Pray to your Christ, to your God
Never taste of the fruit, never stray, never break, never
Choke on a lie even though he's the one who
Did this to you, you never thought to question "Why?"
It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side
Talk to Jesus Christ as if he knows the reasons why
He did it all for you...
He did it all for you...
He did it all for you
~Written for his mother after she suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed but continued to worship her god.
his mother was also the inspiration behind 10,000 days (Judith Marie Keenan) in honor of her death and her paralysis for 10,023 days (viginti tres)
brilliant.
oh, and i still cant get over "Right in Two"'s lyrics. it engulfs human kind and expresses what the higher beings must have felt toward the creation. it can be taken satirically or as a figurative character study.
For the most part, APC lyrics are much better than Tool.
i love em' both
