Dystopia
So, there are plenty of really classic Dystopian works of fiction... 1984, THX1138, Repo- The Genetic Opera, and Feed (which is an excellent book, and I recommend it to everyone!)... DO you think that the United States, or even the world as a whole is approaching the sort of Dystopian future depicted in these works?
-
no, now we are looking at a low lever cyberpunk type future with less individuality.
-
it's been a dystopia for a while now...

I think a kind of idiocracy is already developing, and American mainstream culture is becoming so unbelievably stupid that the American people are going to become complete philistines. I don't think anything like "Brave New World" or "1984" could develop, simply because the people wouldn't allow the federal government to lead such initiatives.
A world like 1984 has a lot more chance of arising in the U.K. where there's a lot of unchecked power.

Hasn't the UK always been like that?
-
Yeah... Oh! I forgot to add V for Vendetta to the list of Dystopian fiction.
