I have caught 28 unowns so whats next? when can i expect to catch my legendary dog?

but i pose another question: if i send all my unkowns to another person will it unlock the legendary dog for them?

The legendary dogs begin appearing in grass over Kanto after you've defeated the Elite Four for the first time. That's it. There are no other prerequisites.

Their location is completely random and changes whenever you enter a town or new route. Which dog will appear depends on what starter you chose: Bulbasaur (Entei), Charmander (Suicune), Squirtle (Raikou). Their locations are completely random, but I found the easiest way to find and catch mine (Suicune) was:

1. Save the Master Ball. Catch Mewtwo with Ultra Balls, really not difficult.
2. Fly to Lavender Town, buy 20 Super Repels.
3. Fly to Vermillion City, put all of your Pokemon into the PC except for one below level 50.
4. Go the eastern end of Route 11 near the checkpoint house thing and save the game.
5. Pop a Super Repel and start moving around in the grass.
6. When your repel wears off, run into the checkpoint house and back out into Route 11. This will change your legendary dog's location.
7. Repeat Step 5 and 6 until you run out of Super Repels (or until your legendary appears, whichever comes first), then switch off the game and reload. This saves you from having to continually waste money buying repels.

Took me a little under an hour for Suicune to appear.
