[fanboyism]Either one of the Advance Wars games - Dual Strike or Dark Conflict/Days of Ruin (depending on where you are). Both let you use either the touchscreen or buttons for control, so it's easy enough to get used to after a while. DS is like the other Advance wars games, DC is a little different.
Metroid Prime Hunters if you like FPSing. There're control options which basically make it like a PC FPS.
New Super Mario Brothers. No, you don't need a reason why.
Mario Kart DS.
Perhaps a DS Browser if you have wireless broadband but you don't have a laptop for some reason.

If you actually enjoy puzzle games, perhaps Polarium is worth a look.
Civlization Revolution is supposed to be good if you're a fan of the Civ games, but I haven't played it yet, so I can't say personally. Final Fantasy 3 and Yu-Gi-Oh: Nightmare to Troubador (or something like that) are also good.
Phoenix Wright. All four games.
Elite Beat Agents if you like music.

The Legend Of Zelda Phantom Houglass is another good game for the ds.

Make sure you get the new kingdom hearts for the DS.
I would suggest the FF games on the ds but I don't know if they're good or not so you check on internet at least.
I just bought Pokemon Pearl even though nobody requested it, and I got Mario Party DS. Though I'm not that satisfied with its gameplay. I shoulda got Mario 64 (I forgot what it's called). xP

I got Final Fantasy XII Revenent Wings but I can't get into it. I have yet to pick it up after the first time I played it at Christmas.

Alright, I already beat Mario Party DS. Extremely short game, but the mini games should entertain me for a while.

Pearl is fun, but it's sad that the Sinnoh pokemon suck so much, they're too depressing.
