Why should I care? I'm living in Canada, and it would be nice to see some change from our "friendly" neighbors.

How about this change: We spend billions of dollars to drill through your shale for oil after we can no longer export any from the middle-east, and make even more selling 80% of that oil to major companies in China, who are starting to depend more on oil than we. There's a change, and a good one. We switch to alternative fuel, while the eastern half of the world finally receives the portion of fossil fuels left in the unearthed regions of North America.
