Ever heard of you using it right now?
And like both previous statements, they are false.
"There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no Third Worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immense, interwoven, interacting, multi-variate, multi-national dominion of dollars. Petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, Reich marks, rands, rubles, pounds and shekels. It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic, subatomic, and galactic structure of things today. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT&T, and DuPont, Dow, Google, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today. What do you think the Chinese talk about in their councils of state, Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, min/max solutions, and compute the price/cost probabilities of their transactions and investments just like we do. We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business. It has been since man crawled out of the slime."
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." - Time Enough For Love, by Robert Heinlein
Sometimes I picture you wearing a big belt buckle and a cowboy hat when you say stuff like that
Capitalists wear top hats and monocles.
When the government is robbed, the worst that happens is that certain rogues and loafers have less money to play with than they had before. - H. L. Mencken
Arguing capitalism is bad is like arguing evolution is bad. Survival of the fittest. Some have unfair advantages, some never stood a chance, some will thrive, some will die. In the end though it doesn't matter if you think it's terrible, your opinion doesn't make it any less of a fact.

i am a lot better at it though

Oh hey, I was just looking at this thread.
yep, currently active users page can reveal some nostalgic lurking!
oh and that reminds me of that pm you send me awhile ago. i dont have the time or energy to keep up with much current events these days. only south american socialists i feel qualified to give much of an opinion on are chavez and morales.
celery what are you political/economic persuasions?

Yeah, I was wondering why you didn't reply and I was planning on re-asking you.
I am not really 100% knowledgeable about Communism and socialism, but as far as what I know I am mostly communist.

But, there are still quite a few holes in my knowledge. You are an avid Stalin supporter, right? Do you consider his policies to stay true to Marx's, or do you like him for his benefits he brought to the USSR alone?
i dont care much about marx or orthodox marxism. it was written in the 1800s. he got a lot of things wrong and at the same time his predictions proved more true than most recognize. but in general orthodox anything is dumb. i dont have any particular reverence for marx(also i consider him a rather boring writer, engels was the better of the pair IF YOU ASK ME).
i "like" stalin because he brought the ussr from a rural backwater to a world super power in a few years despite taking the most damage of any during WWII. he proved how purely productive a non-market economy can be, although there were a lot of issues. also i do have a level of respect for men who know how to get things done. plus loving stalin is great material to get people talking. he wasnt the nicest guy in the world though, but it's hard to dispute how much he did for russia.
