All too common today. People being paid at minimum wage, even less in countries which don't even HAVE a minimum wage in place or do not enforce it, little to no leave, on the brink of poverty with deskmen as bosses that have no consideration for employees and racial discrimination rife [Zimbabweans in SA given less than half the salary of others in same job and berated in workplace, others fired and forced out of country by xenophobes]. Marx and Lenin used the term fighting capitalism, and it's evident today. While people are not literally caged up and bought and sold like in the African Slave Trade, this is a very real equivalent. People being paid the very bare minimum, not substantial enough to even live without struggle for bare necessities. There is seriously something wrong with the world we live in.
