The world's going to end in 2012?

We were watching this documentary in class, and it was talking about how the world will end in 2012. Apparently some ancient mayan people predicted a specific day, and Einstein predicted the same exact one, along with 10 other people.

I'll have to put more research into this, and I will if I have a minute or two, but I'm really unsure about it. We were all supposed to die in 2000. And also, they predict a nuclear bomb will cause chaos from now til then.

Do you think it's true, or just ridiculous?

I heard that the mayans predicted 9/11 and the 2004 tsunami. I think they even predicted the 1989 San Fransico earthquake. But I think the whole thing is boloni. Oh, by the way, thats when the mayan calendar ends, not predicted. My opinion, thats when they thought there tribe would fall, not the world.

bologna. and no, it's the world. They put it in their own fucking words. It's nothing to do with an end to a world, it's an astrological event in the celestial sky. Some stars align or some crap, and that's supposed to create a chain reaction that'll blow up the Earth.

That's a pretty lame comparison, actually. Y2K was a scenario that assumed computers would somehow reboot themselves to the year 1900 piggybacking on technophobia sPoonfed to us in the movies and the same breed of doomsayers who claimed every new century would be the end of days. A perfect storm of mob mentality bullshit.

At least the Mayans have the distinction of being history's most notable astronomers and calender makers.
