Black man of the day, 2/5/09 ...
Whether insulting white people, picking up bitch, or straight cruisin in the honey wagon, Will Smith does it all in the heights of black style. Don't no one spit game like this nigga. Started out as one of the most down homeboys of all time, but was miraculously able to branch out into the white-dominated Hollywood mainstream without selling out. Sure, he isn't the young black man he once was, but he remains a voice of true blackness even surrounded by Hollywood A-Listers - an amazing feat.
To all the girls that wanna join my tribe, just move to my rhythm and feel my vibe
No he's not. He claims to be Christian, but is "a student of all religions". He just finds the ideas of scientology to be agreeable, and he says that they are large concurrent with the Bible, just with different names
every character would be them dressed in different costumes. when more than 2 characters have to appear on the screen at once, they will be represented by the characters action figures, colored black with marker.
He mainly makes it here based on the hat he is wearing in this picture alone, but that is far from the only thing that makes him deserve such an honor as this. That great hat does not like, he does indeed have a bad attitude: towards body fat, heart disease, and an unhealthy life style. As a fitness instructor, he helps black people stay in shape while still being able to eat their traditional cuisine of fried chicken, fast food, and grape soda. A very important contribution to the black community, no doubt, but really, just LOOK at that hat!
Black man of the day, 2/8/09 ...
Reverend Joseph Lowery
At 87 years old, Joseph Lowery has been an angry black man longer than most people have even know what the color black is. A prominent civil rights leader, working closely with Martin Luther King, he continued to champion black causes after King's death, co-foudning the Black Leadership Forum, and actively participating in anti-Apartheid events until Nelson Mandela's presidency.
Of course, like ever great black man, he loved to stick it to whitey. During Coretta Scott King's funeral, he, being a close friend of the King's gave remarks. With 4 former and current presidents in attendance, including George W. Bush, receiving a standing, black, ovation for this statement: "We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there. But Coretta knew and we know that there are weapons of misdirection right down here. Millions without health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war billions more but no more for the poor!"
Of course, this man has done a great amount of blackness, but perhaps his greatest moment, was during the Inauguration of Barack Obama. He got up there, gave a solemn, epic speech for a little while, and then ended the inauguration perfectly, injecting some black funkiness into the historical event:
If that were left at that, it would be more than good enough. But that speech, that innocent little 30-some second segment, INFURIATED white conservative pundits. Apparently it was racist towards white people. No matter what he does, Reverend Lowery simply cannot help sticking it to the man and offending whitey. What a man. What a black man.
