finally got around to reading lolita and yeah its pretty great. the writing is both enthralling in its elegance, while also coming across as pretentious try-hard intellectualism - in a good way because it gives you a great feeling of hh's character. also in the same week read a wild sheep chase by murakami who is becoming my favorite author. as always it's hilarious, amazingly 'readable', and the surrealism met with ironic detachment is great. love the man. bought a short story collection of his today(sleeping willow, sleeping woman). finally got through the last half of my language history book in about two days of reading a lot of it. it was slow going at time but overall worth it, interestin shit mostly.

also ordered on amazon the queue by vladimir sorokin and a pretentious sahlins book to affirm my communist worldview(western illusion of human nature).

    "What else?" said the secretary.

Now reading Shavetail by Thomas Cobb and Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. I'm liking Shavetail more than Labyrinth.
