Probably not a very serious topic, but still, other than the fact emos cut themselves, act like pussies (might not be acting), and are more annoying to deal with, whats the difference?

Emos are generally more sad than dark. Both are full of warrantless angst, and Emos generally have even lamer haircuts. Goths are a diverse lot and I would go so far as saying that Emos are more like a niche of Gothism than a subculture all their own.

As far as general stereotypes go, Goths are saddened by the state of the world whereas Emos are saddened by the state of their lives.

It all started thousands of years ago when Germanic forest tribes wearing black mesh shirts, strapped pants, silver jewelery and contrasting black/white make-up were being oppressed by the Roman Empire who called them fags while having sex with teenaged boys in bath houses. The Romans continued to use the Goths as slaves and target practice because they were just too damn stoic to fight back.

As this was happening, a young Goth named Alarik grew up raised by Vandals; a neighboring tribe defined by brightly colored sPiked hair, outrageous body tattoos and a knack undermining the authoritative Roman Empire. Alarik returned to his people with tactical knowledge he gained from his foster tribe and evolved it into Goth warfare.

The Goths would attack and raid Roman army camps at night and slept in mausoliums during the day. This was so effective, that the Goths overthrew the Roman Empire in a relativly short time and added pointed arches and flying buttresses to the pre-existing architecture.

Thus the Goths sacked Rome but they realized that in doing so they became too mainstream. So they went underground for recent centuries until their revival in the 1980s.

Then MysPace and camera phones were invented. A new subsPecies of Goths branched off to take advantage of this niche by taking grainy, arm-length pictures of themselves from an upper angle and defaulting them on their pages.

This is how Emos came to be.

My friends and I say that emos are just emotional goths. And they wear more color and tight pants.
If you ask me its just an excuse for guys to hide the fact that they are fags.
Cause you can see or hear of emo guys makin out but you never hear of goth guys makin out. Its all stupid, emo people are suicidile (Sp?)
