I shit on New Labour. Gordon Brown is unpopular with the masses for a perfectly good reason, and their benefit system is fine but people question it because of the tax they have to pay for it. Labour basically are pseudo-socialists; they pretend they're socialist but basically they're monarchists who couldn't stand living in anything but a palace, so they have somehow made their way into their mainstream ballot because they expertly fuse socialist concepts into their policies. Conservative is pretty bullshit - Margret Thatcher basically fucked up our country, and I'm not willing for that to happen again and for poverty in Britain to exist again. You might hear your uncle praise Conservative because Margret Thatcher was the iron lady or some thing, but that term was invented basically because she's the closest thing to a full-blown fascist the country has ever had - she is a bitch who suffered from intense PMS, and people were surprised because a woman could do this, and thus they tolerated our country being run by her.

I like Green Party. A good party - wouldn't work in the U.S. but would definitely work here. They would provide a 'citizen income' so nobody would starve, equivalent to the benefit system except without the criticism because it's a common socialist concept.

i say thatcher - reagan was probably more of an all-and-out corporate puppet with no opinions of his own than thatcher was, so is therefore i guess less accountable. plus reagan sort of tried to appeal to people by appearing pragmatic in some ways, opposed to thatchers unapologetic neo-liberal free-market love. plus she counted AUGUSTO PINOCHET as a PERSONAL FRIEND.

I don't know enough about British legislation to discuss that then. But you can't honestly say that there is no crime which a man should be punished for with death.

Utilitarians using cold, hard logic would claim that Hicky's claim that every logical person disagrees with the death penalty is complete bunk, and to be honest I see their point. Why give a murderous psychopath a stint in jail, wasting taxpayer money, when you could kill them off and be done with it? Think of the majority, people!

An emotional reactionary is the exact kind of person who is OPPOSED to the death penalty. They see it as immoral. Anyone using clear logic can see that it is much more efficient and less risky to go ahead and get rid of that mass murderer.

Because the context of "justifiable" murder is impossible to define. Should all soldiers be put to death as well? How about cops? Killing is a fundamental part of life, to deem the act in itself wrong is to claim that human nature is wrong. There is nothing logical about self-hatred fueled by inalienable conditions that govern the framework of the world around us. I'll also mention that utilitarianism is a flawed platform to work off of since you can not justify right and wrong by simple multiplication, thats not how life works and the context of each situation is necessary in the basis of forming a decision about it. Because of this it is woefully uprooted reality and utterly worthless as far as making moral decisions is concerned. That being said, the whole point of calling it a correctional facility is that it's supposed to instruct the people in it on proper behavior. Not arbitrarily kill them to cater to the pettiness of others, that just makes everyone involved wrong.


Any "logical" person might want to learn the difference between reason and morality.

I stand by my belief that there is no such thing as objective morality and therefore utilitarianism is as good a way as any of deciding who is arbitrarily right or wrong.
