I've been reading history books recently. I've never done that in my life. So yeah, right now it's "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", there's 1400 pages and I've 'bout 600 left to plow through happily.
Tor books break down very easily, I don't like the glue they use as a binding. Reading through one of the huge hardbacks the first time the spine cracked and the book broke in two. That is ridiculous.
Yes, I did complain to the publisher.
No, they don't seem to care.
The only Wheel of Time book I have that is still whole is Crossroads of Twilight (book 10) and thats because that book was too slow to reread. I tried rereading it my last time through the series and failed. I failed so hard, I may never pick that book up again. NOTHING HAPPENS. AT ALL IN THE ENTIRE THING.
The rest of mine have copious amounts of tape binding them together.
The two newest aren't falling apart yet, though.

Doodles and such.

All of their spines are cracked, except the last one. It's only been read twice though- and I made sure it was handled carefully!
Btw Keke, when do you think the next one will be out?

Probably within a year, Brandon Sanderson has really been whipping them out. I guess Robert Jordan left really good notes, nearly completing the series himself. Sanderson is just adding detail and composition.
Sucks about his death/sickness though.
Well, people speculate that if he'd been finishing the books himself, there would have been at least three/four more books
They say that at least now it's being finished up as quickly as possible.

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

I dunno, it could be a bit of both.
The books are a lot more actiony so I tend to think that Jordan would have added even more pointless conversations and character establishment in a series that has already been well established for like decades.
So you are right, I bet Jordan would have spent a lot more time being verbose. haha
Like 300-500 pages, where absolutely nothing substantial happens.

Or the entire book Crossroads of Twilight. I mean, sure, we know what Egwene is wearing in minute detail, but nothing really happens. At all.
He is the only male author I've ever read who enjoyed describing clothing as much as he did. And the women changed clothing so frequently!
Jordan was clearly in touch with his feminine side.
Oh, and he seems very comfortable talking about the female interactions, especially in the White Tower etc, creating the whole feminine atmosphere in there.
