Apparently,the Mayan calendar was cyclical and 2012 marks the end of one cycle,not the end of the world.

It doesn't necessary mean that we (humanity and other species on earth) are doomed.
Personally, I think it's a bunch of garbage. People have said that the world was going to end before the Y2K incident from my knowledge. I wonder what will happen, but I doubt the world will end because of some calendar and because people think it means it's the end of the world since it stopped in 2012.
