... because all of them are the same thing really.
But I did like Totoro and Princess Monoko (or how ever you spell it).

    1 grave of the fireflies

i'm not so sure about who made grave of the fireflies, but it has some relation to studio ghibli and hayao miyuzaki. the art style is reminiscent of hayao, it might've been his son. it's an oriental movie and i associate it with him, so it's on the list.
miyazaki had nothing to do with grave of fireflies, ghibli was just hired on it to do some animation work or something.

Actually, this was before Studio Ghibli was famous. Hayao had nothing to do with Grave of the Fireflies and the movie was based of an autobiography of a man who lived through WWII. It's a sad book because he blames himself for his sisters death. Ghibli tried to capture the mans atonement with the movie. The movie, however, shows very little similarities to the book it's based off of and the candy box was only mentioned in a couple sentences; maybe twice through the entire book.
It's a good anti-war movie and I loved it, got it on DVD to share with friends.

Well actually, Miyazaki did collaborate with the director of GOTFF, who is his good friend, about the film. Also, the movie's message really wasn't anti-war. It was more or less a depiction of how naive Japanese civilians were about the war and their life during this time.

Pocco Rosa means "Pink Pig" I learned Spanish! But definitely one of my top 5 of his.

The Cat Returns is good but you have to watch "Whisper of the Heart" (that movie always makes me sad and I can barely finish it without tearing up, to be completely honest with you PDer's!) to really appreciate Baron's character in the movie. I'm so the Baron---oh my Luise. When I am a teacher I am buying the glass figurine of him and keeping it on my desk.

When I went to the Ghibil Museum in Japan, the Baron's glass figurine was breathtaking in person. I wonder if one of my students will understand the reference, or come up with their own conclusions as to why I would choose this character of all the characters to showcase on my desk.

I remember at the end of our 7th grade year our science teacher made us watch The Cat Returns. He was a pretty awesome teacher.
