First rule: FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT PIRATES.
This is way super simplified.
No complicated statistics, no difficult to remember lists.
This is a fantasy Roleplay set on an alternate earth in the early 1700's 2-3 years before our Pirates adventure started.
The premise is Ireland is ruled by elves, and Britain is ruled by humans. The British humans invaded Ireland and colonized it over 100 years prior to the beginning of the roleplay. An unsteady peace was declared on the day the roleplay begins because of a more pressing matter.
Hordes of orcs and goblins have invaded, landing on the shores of both countries in black sailed ships. They are barbaric and brutal, but early losses have been immense. To stem the flow of blood, the humans and elves have declared peace to unify against the common enemy.
There are mages, priests and all forms of magic users as well as warriors, archers and other melee fighters. There is an entire pantheon of gods which take an active role in the lives of their followers.
You play either a British human living in Ireland, or an Irish elf learning to deal with the invading human presence. The humans live in the capitol city of Dublin, in newly constructed fort near the elvish palace. According to the treaty signed, the elves have been permitted to return to their own palace in the capitol city and arrive at the beginning of the roleplay.
The elves rule Ireland with a monarchy made up of three families. When the humans first invaded, Ireland was in turmoil. The last of a long line of kings had died without a child, and without having declared an heir. The Houses of Nobility fought for the throne, one against another, further weakening Ireland. Never willing to waste an opportunity, the humans invaded. To end the civil war, and present a solid force to drive back the invaders, the three strongest Houses declared the crown broken, and opted to take turns ruling. When the first king or queen died, they would be replaced by an heir from the second family, and when that king or queen died, they would be replaced by the heir from the third family and so on and so forth.
My character is Camilla Zarine Kelsy, the Heir to the Broken Crown. She stands to inherit the throne, when the current king finally meets his demise. She is 17 years of age. Her father is Marshal-General Ailill Kelsy, one of the most respected and highest ranking generals among the elves. The two will lead a delegation of elves to the capitol to take up residence at the Palace, arriving the first day of the roleplay. Her mother and two sisters will join the two at the capitol at a later date.
The King of Elves lives in the Palace of the Rebel King at Tara. As the now recognized ruler of Ireland, he will continue residing there as opposed to moving to the still occupied capitol of Dublin.
Elves typically have Gaelic or Irish sounding names, although it is currently in fashion to give young elves British names, thus Camilla. She is very touchy about her name, so I do not suggest commenting on it.
I have intentionally left the human lore loose so that if someone else desires to flesh out the history of their own character or race, they may.
If you have any ideas of your own to implement I would love to hear them. Archers on drakes, or griffins, or some steampunk might be nice. Whatever works, it's very flexible.
Anyone interested?![]()
