I don't know about B/W being absolutely horrid... You can't judge an entire Gen. based solely on the Pokemon they've announced. I didn't think I would like D/P/Pt as much as I did.

I simply don't like the designs of most of these new Pokémon. The first 251, I can imagine the Pokémon running in the wild of the Pokémon universe. They look natural. While Gen III and so on, it would be hard for those Pokémon to naturally appear in the wild. Applying the rules of natural selection, fittest to survive, and visibility to a predator in the universe of Pokémon... these new Pokémon throw things hooky.

Simply, I just don't like their design for the lack of biological awareness.

Yes, but the region of Gen 5 is more industrial, and time has passed since the 251 of Gen 2. These Pokemon were meant to be domesticated for public entertainment.

im not saying that its not the defining moment in RPG history, and that it doesn't have some of the coolest creations (including nidoking, charizard, polywrath, pinsir, scyther, gengar, and mewtwo), but it did have its share of horrible filler ideas

I combine Gen I and Gen II because Satoshi, the creator of Pokémon, approved and denied what was a Pokémon at that time. Now he's off doing other things so it's up to a team of random people for each game to design new Pokémon.
However, I never thought about the time line though, which does bring up an interesting idea. But than again, wouldn't the previous Gen of Pokémon change design as well?

I'm not suer of B/W, but HG/SS is the same. I don't have a DSi/XL so I can't judge there... I just have a DS Lite.

Yes it has been confirmed you can do it like the time ball transphere.

IGNORE THEM

they have no continuity to the original games, and you can completely focus on the game your playing rather than trying to remember back to past games

and as for which DS to get...

if you usually play at home, and you want an awesome gaming experience, get the XL

if you travel alot, or play on the go more, get the DSi.

or if your cheap, get the Lite

I never got into the DSi Craze... I'm saving up for the 3DS! I would recommend the Lite, so if you get any of the GameBoy Advance games, you can transfer those Pokemon to gen IV.

Just wait and get the 3DS. It'll play the older DS games while being able to play future ones.

But if you get used GBA games, you can't use Pal Park Get a used Lite, while simultaneously saving up for the 3DS

i'd prefer the origonal DS over the light for 1 reason...

the control pad.

the lite's control pad is the cheapest, most jello-like D-pad controls ever. the origonal DS had an excellent D-pad, and i personally like the little bulky size. the DSi (which i currently have) has an excellent D-pad, and downloadable content. some of which are brilliant, and some of which blow anal sludge.

but then again, i'd say that for shelf space, the lite's definitely has all of the other's on size and backwards compatability.
