I agree with Lord. If you want to have the forums as popular as the site, make them more noticeable on the site.

Perhaps we could move all the walkthrough to stickies on the forums, or something... The site could allow people to navigate to the forums, and then when they're there, BAM.

As it is now, most members that have just joined are usually ignored when they ask a question, or are given a smart remark because the question seems stupid. I guess what I'm getting at is making the forum more new-user friendly. Make sure we encourage members to post in the introduction section and welcome them. Keep the actual Pokemon discussion active so that it's easier for newer members to jump in. If anything, the forums need to be correctly separated. For example:

Main Site/Forums Discussion
-Site Discussion
-Forums Discussion
-Introductions

Pokemon
-General
sub: Anime
sub: TCG
sub: Art
sub: RP
-Games
-Competitive Workshop/Battle Tower(?)

Miscellaneous
-General
-Debate
-Multimedia
-RP

Just a thought.

Pretty much what she said, although might I add the spam problem is going to be a MAJOR dampener on this plan, so getting that fixed is something of a first priority.

New forum for whatever the new pokemon games are. black and white?

Competitive Battle (this should definitely be its own forum if mewtwo does something with this shoddy business.)

Combine Misc. Writing and Fan fiction for a general writing forum, and make Pokemon Art Gallery a general art forum.

Everything else the same.

Maybe the solution is in reduction instead of addition, as of now most of the sub forums and others haven't seen a single post let alone a thread in months.

Combination seems like what everyone is wanting and I agree with god, update and upgrade this place as much as you can without killing yourself over a boiling monitor

On Janurary 15th 2010 15 days after the deadline:

105 Active members. We needed 200.

7% posts in pokemon sections. That hasn't gone up at all.

Conclusion

We failed. Nice job guys.

I feel I should point out that some of us have very little to do with the metagame, the anime or indeed anything beyond the game itself. Posting in the pokemon section requires people to be interested in such things.

We need more game section threads. On other sites a lot of there activity isn't from disussions but from "poke-polls" like we have with you favorite pokemon but there is literally one formed every hour that popular. I am not saying we need to form one every hour but possibly a new pokepoll every week.

No, people do know about PD. You have guest all the time. It's just you can't retain members. I think you all have went through the reasons why this forum is dieing.

I think they just randomly show up. They leave because there has been a history of unfriendliness and drama. and you have to prove that incidents will not continue. Plus this forum isn't particularly Pokemon.
