Relationship was failing because she was unhappy with herself. She wanted to be together forever and ever but she finally realized that she wasn't ready for it and that she wanted to find herself and whatnot. So instead of dragging the relationship even further into the ground, let's just end it.

-sigh- We were in love, a couple of days longer and it could've been a year. But we're teenagers so what are you gonna do, we're all fucking confused about our feelings

I think that's a girl's way of saying she wants to bone another dude. Hate to be the one to tell you this. Chin up! I'm sure that the next one will be more in your own league, she was obviously reaching when she dated you. She broke the one ironclad rule of girlhood, never date a boyfriend prettier than you are.
