The people who battle at the VGC are the best players in the world, literally. They are merely using ubers because those pokemon are allowed in the metagame they are playing in. They play to win, and they use their available resources to do so. If ubers aren't allowed then they wont use em, but if they are then they will use em too. Simple as that.
