I put a whole day off just to make this thing on smogon, and guess what, one person resonded. ONE PERSON! And it was some noob telling me to have a pokemon using rain dance. Fuck smogon man, just fuck it. I wanted help, I came there, and I got none. Atleast I can re post it here for fucks sakes.
Coolaid Man reference for those that donít know. Azumarill is the Coolaid man and the rest of the pokemon are his flavors.
I wanted to build a team around an Azumarill-Politoed offensive core. At first I didnít have too much success, the weaknesses just seemed to much. But I was confident I could make it work, seeing as it was never them that was the problem but there support. After much trail and error I think I got the right mix, still though I have problems with a few pokemon, so any suggestions from you guys is very appreciated.
Also a note for any raters, I am not a standards man, if it doesnít work for me I just donít use it. You will see that in the move sets of a few of my pokemon. I am not stubborn though, if you present a good enough argument I will change some moves around, even pokemon. But one of my biggest pet peeves is random ev sets, please for the love of God unless itís a standard 252/252/6 set, explain exactly what the evs do. If a set is for something I really have a problem with, I will not use it, like last genís standard skarmory set that out sped Rhyperior, for god knows reason.
Team Building Process:
I wanted to see is this combination clause had any merit, so I decided to try this thing out. First off the main problem I had was finding a good pokemon to abuse rain. After a bit of snooping around I had my man.
Azumarill is just rape, with sandstorm teams around everywhere. And with a little rain support its an amazing sweeper. These are my 2 main pokemon, so the rest of my team is built around them, so please donít think about cutting them.
After playing around a bit, I really didnít like Politoed as a lead, I just didnít. So I decided to use one of the best leads around, Deoxys-S. It can set up hazards pretty well, which is good since Azumarill and likes force quite a few switches, which gives me some neat 1HKOs.
After a bit of playing, I found Ferrothorn is an annoying pokemon to face with this team, with rain support its hard to take down. I needed something to just get rid of this thing, Magnezone is the answer. Also Magnezone neatly takes any grass and electric hits which is a great thing.
Note how I added them both at once. This was probably the biggest breakthrough for my team. I had tested them both individually, but it wasnít until when I tested them both at the same time that I achieved the greatest success. Both of these guys take ground and fighting attacks aimed for Magnezone. And while Tornadus adds another electric weakness, its somewhat balanced out by Latios. They both added the extra offense I needed. Still I am iffy on both of them, it seems like a bit of overkill. Overall these last 2 are most iffy, still when I added them in this way my rating went up significantly.
Cherry (Deoxys-S) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Shadow Ball
Deoxys-S is my main lead, and with things moving around quite a bit I needed some entry hazards up. Spikes was the suggested set but I found that sometimes this thing could only ever get one layer up, which if you do the math is one half of the damage you would get if stealth rocks is set up. So stealth rocks was my main move, just incase I only get one up. Taunt stops other leads pretty well if needed. I also have spikes here because if I get a layer of rocks in, and I could still set up why not? It is also very helpful for trick leads, as I can still just spam spikes. I tried out magic coat which was for prankster leads, but most of the time they just go for the substitute, and they are not that common too. Shadow ball is for Xatu and Espeon which like to switch in and, make me set up on my self. The last slot if my most iffy here, since sometimes I wish I had flamethrower or something which has better coverage. I remember the standard set had extreme speed for sashes or something, which honestly I never found that useful. Usually this thing just ends up just dieing, but the rack up of entry hazards damage later on makes it well worth it. The evs are pretty straight forward, allowing me to have max speed to set things up, and speed tie other Deoxys-S. Max HP to take hits if needed to get as many layers of entry hazards up as I can. Leftovers increases its longevity and commonly gives me enough health to take another hit.
Blueberry (Politoed) (F) @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

On a rain team you need this dude! Rain helps out my team so much by boosting Azumarillís rapingness, allowing me to run thunder and hurricane and, reducing fireís power. Finally it takes any ice hits aimed at Latios and Tornadus. Now Politoed not only makes great set up but, a great sweeper! Hydro Pump fireing off at a killer 270 power which even if resisted is still very powerful, ripping through even some big bulky waters. With such great power, all you need is responsibility speed. And thatís where choice scarf comes from. Ice beam is helpful against dragons which I commonly out speed with choice scarf, so I donít have to bring my Azumarill in just yet. HP electric is good for other type types, even though it only comes at 5 more, power at least it hits 100% of the time and it gets water absorb pokemon. Hypnosis is an iffy move, but it can work sometimes to shut things down, which works with choice scarf. I am up for suggestions though, since I rarely find myself using it, I tried out perish song once but honestly I didnít like it at all. The evs of course increase my speed to the max and special attack to sweep with hydro pump. Although I am looking for alternative speed sets, seeing as it places me in no important speed tier. Also I have been wondering about hydro pump, not so much the accuracy but the PP, I have actually lost a few matches because Hydro pumpís PP runs out, but I fear running surf would lose me a lot of those 2HKOs my Politoed gets.
Oh Yeah! (Azumarill) (M) @ Choice Band

Azumarill is just rape, dealing with many sandstorm pokemon with ease, so if rain fails this still works great. Azumarill is my main physical attacker supporting my team very well, in fact if you look at the threat list below, almost all those pokemon can be finish off by Azumarill if needed. Also is quite bulky, so if needs to be it can be a decent tank. Aqua jet is the main move here, with choice band and a huge power boost Azumarill is capable of 1HKOing many pokemon, always. And with a rain dance boost even more pokemon come into that picture. Now some pokemon will try to be tricky and switch out to there bulky water, and they all get a superpower to the face, even Ferrothorn can be 1HKOed by the superpower. Waterfall is a needed stab option if I ever face some really slow pokemon. And ice punch allows me to kill off any dragon and grass types coming in. Now of course Jellicent counters this whole set, so I was considering toxic on one of these slots, but honest all of them are needed. The evs get me the maximum attack I need to sweep and HP to take hits. But I often want to use more speed here to act as a wall breaker with slow pokemon, because if aqua jet in the rain is strong, waterfall is just supernatural.
HAL9000 (Magnezone) @ Leftovers

What does a homicidal robot have to do with Coolaid? I donít know, maybe more then you think!?
Now as I said before, Magnezone is a needed team member to deal with Ferrothorn. Magnezone is always cool too because it can trap steels for basically free like Skarmory and kill them off, which is always cool. Magnezone deals with bulky waters, punishing them with the monstrous thunder. Magnezone finally takes any grass and electric moves which is a must on this team. First off, thunder is the main stab move which does lots of damage, and have a neat paralysis chance too. Hidden power fire is a needed more to take down Ferrothorn as well as other steels. While fireís power is lowered in the rain, but its still pretty strong. Substitute is a great set up move to use on trapped steels so I get to kill a steel type and get a free substitute, sounds like a fair deal.
Now the last move is a problem one. Metal sound is pretty decent in tests to kill of an opposing Magnezone better one on one. I have also considered screech, to lower defense so Azumarill donít even have a problem 1HKOing. I have also tested out mirror coat, for those that try to set up on me when I kill them, but it was of little use. I might try out flash cannon, for Tyranitar but I donít know hilariously metal sound might be better. Charge beam is also an option, with so many I honestly just need to pin one down.
The evs allow my substitute to never be outright broken, by ferrothornís power whip and, will allow me to outspeed I think Scizor, and then have max special attack to hit hard with thunder. Leftovers is the preferred item to heal of substitutes and such, but I have been considering balloon, seeing as many pokemon on the threat list would not be as big of problem, if earthquake where out of the picture.
Katrina (Tornadus) (M) @ Sharp Beak
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

The name is too good not to be used.
Tornadus takes any fighting or ground moves for Magnezone and, is a pretty powerful sweeper in the rain. Now while the item choice may seem odd, let me explain. What do you end up doing most of the time with a Tornadus? Spam hurricane, donít lie, and honestly if thatís all I mostly end up doing why not use sharp beak? Currently I am unaware of any significant KOs I would get with life orb, as opposed to sharp beak. If you can find any please inform me. And life orb just seems like a big loss in HP that I canít afford, especially if they get stealth rocks in. Now hammer arm takes care of Blissey which tries to be a special wall and I then can easily 2HKO it. A few other pokemon also donít accpetiate hammer arm like tyranitar. HP ice is great for Gliscor and dragons, which hits them at quadruple power. Although I would be interested in other HP options. Taunt can be used against things trying to set up, I can caught a set Ferrothorns trying to spike with it but, for the most part I rarely use it. So I am up for other options over taunt, like perhaps dark pulse. U-turn is also an option I am considering. The ev again are straight forward max speed and special attack to sweep. Naive is the preferred choice since sometimes I need to take a close combat, seeing as this is my fighting counter.
Razzberry (Latios) (M) @ Expert Belt
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Like Tornadus it takes fighting and ground hits and, electric hits too, which is great. All around a great team player and sweeper. Surf is a great coverage move that is boosted in the rain to deal big damage, in the rain itís a better move then dragon pulse. Dragon pulse is a needed stab move, which allows me to kill off other dragon types., and since I am at a great speed tier I have the luxury to do. Thunder, boosted to 100% accuracy in the rain, knocks off any bulky waters and, at the least does big damage, with a good paralysis chance. Now as always, the last move is iffy, I had recover in for a bit, but honestly I never even had a chance to use it. At least with Psyshock I can do big damage to Virizion and, other fighting types and, do lots of damage to Blissey. I am up for other options though but some like flamethrower just donít seem good at all in the rain, and I have Magnezone. Also I have problems with said opposing Magnezones, so I also have been considering hidden power ground. Now the item of choice was originally life orb, but I require it to much to take some hits that I canít have it killing itself, and besides most of the time I get a super effective hit, so I found expert belt just to be the better item. The evs are pretty straight forwards, max speed and special attack to sweep. Now I have been considering Latias over Latios because itís a slightly better wall to take hits. Tell me what you think?
Now as you see I still have some problems with water and electric types. So any help is appreciated. Also I plan to use this on wifi. So whatever comments you have please speak them, so I donít waste my time making this team.
Green- I deal with little problem.
Orange- Some difficulty, but can deal with.
Red- Can no deal with at all well.
Aerodactyl -As a lead taunt shuts the thing down. Offensively though, Azumarill, Politoed or, even Latios deal with this.
Archeops -Similar to Aerodactyl offensively.
Azelf -As a lead, it can be tricky, usually I will just go for spikes in fear of tricking. But offensively, most of my team can deal with, with relative ease.
Bisharp -If it lacks brick break then Magnezone can deal with it, if not then Politoed, Azumarill and Tornadus.
Blaziken -Azumarill is the only one really, Latios does ok.
Breloom -Something to take that spore, usually Tornadus, then Latios. Or the other way around, depending on how I feel about there team.
Chandelure -Politoed, Azumarill or, Latios.
Cobalion -Most of my team, with the acceptation of Magnezone of course.
Conkeldurr - Again, most of my team.
Darmanitan -Politoed usually, Azumarill can revenge kill.
Deoxys-S -Taunt off I guess, 50% chance I win.
Dragonite -Tornadus sometimes if its HP is lowered, Latias works too. If physically weak then Azumarill can also get in on it.
Eelektross -Latios usually, Magnezone can take a flamethrower sometimes and Azumarill at the end may sweep it off. Not easy to deal with though.
Electivire -Latios if it doesn't have ice punch, once again it can cause problems but Azumarill might be able to take it out.
Emboar -Latios, Politoed and, Azumarill.
Empoleon -Magnezone, but if lack it Latios with thunder.
Espeon -As a lead (or lead counter) just shadow ball it. Outside of that though, pretty much my whole team.
Escavalier -Magnezone possibly, Politoed and Azumarrill deal with this nicely too.
Excadrill -Azumarill, my main man.
Garchomp -Interestingly I can take an outrage with Azumarill, so at full HP I can always 1HKO it. If its low in health its also fodder. If I must Politoed can also deal with it.
Genesect - Tornadus can deal with this, azumarill or politoed is needed.
Gengar -Toradus can take most hits, again azumarill usually saves the save here.
Golurk -Tornadus, politoed and, aumarill.
Gyarados - Latios is the only one that can deal with it well, Politoed can also work with hidden power electric and, Tornados can pull of hurricanes on it.
Haxorus - Honestly its defense is low enough so that even Politoed is a check. Every man pretty much, accept magnezone.
Heatran - Politoed and Azumarill, Latios can work sometimes too.
Heracross - Tornadus can take a close combat and hurricane back, as always Politoed and Azumarill.
Hydreigon - Magnezone can take a fire blast in the rain and hit back with thunder, Latios works too.
Infernape - Politoed and Aumarill.
Jirachi - Politoed and Azumarill usually, magnezone also deals with it ok.
Jolteon -Latios mainly, magnezone can block this thing off, but has no hits against it.
Keldeo -Most of the team.
Kingdra - Magnezone can work, depending on the variat Tornadus works sometimes too.
Krookodile -Azumarill, Politoed and, Latios.
Kyurem -Mangezone usually, if I let something die then Tornadus and Latios.
Landorus - Azumarill.
Latios -Not well, Tornadus can fire off HP ice, and if not scarfed Politoed and ice beam it. If it uses draco meteor then Magnezone can work. And as always when low in health, Azumarill to the rescue!
Lilligant - Magnezone for the most part, Latios may work too. If it gets a few quiver dances in though I could be in for problems. Azumarill is a last stand dude.
Lucario -Latios and work, politeod and Azumarill are sometimes needed though.
Machamp - Honestly most of my team, confusion hurts though.
Magnezone -Magnezone standoff usually, outside of that though it can cause issues, Tornadus can work with hammer arm but yeah... Politoed and Azumarill for big damage...
Mamoswine -Politoed and Azumarill.
Metagross - Latios's surf Politoed and Azumarill, but if it has the right punch it can cause issues.
Mienshao -Tornadus and Latios.
Reuniclus - Magnezone deals with it if needed, honestly most of my team if not a trick room one. Then its Azumarill to the rescue.
Roserade -Tornadus, Latios and, Magnezone.
Salamence -Tornadus with HP ice, azumarill can do big damage if needed, and Magnezone can take a fire blast in the rain.
Scizor -Magnezone, Politoed and, Azumarill.
Scrafty-Tornadus is needed, Politoed and Azumarill can work.
Serperior -Tornadus and Latios can work.
Shaymin -Tornadus, Latios and, Magnezone.
Sigilyph -Most of my team.
Smeargle -As a lead, taunt. If encountered later on Azumarill just rapes it, Latios and Tornadus can work.
Starmie -Magnezone for the most part, Azumarill 2HKOs it too lol.
Terakion -Most of my team.
Thundurus -Not well to be honest, Latios and Magnezone can work, but not well.
Togekiss -Latios works usually, Tornadus also.
Tornadus -Magnezone sometimes, although focus blast hurts Politoed and Azumarill work too.
Tyranitar - Ah weather wars, usually this thing come in on Latios and pursuits it, I just surf. Outside of that most of that Politoed and Azumarill work very well.
Venusaur -Not well, Tornadus can usually take a hit as with Latios but it still causes problems.
Victini -Politoed and Azumarill.
Virizion -Latios and Tornadus.
Weavile -Azumarill usually, Magnezone and Politoed sometimes work.
Zoroark -Honestly, only Latios has big uses with this guy.
Alomomola - Magnezone is the best one, but Latios works if needed.
Blissey - Azumarill is my only physical attacker so it can cause issues, but with it being slower it allows me to run waterfall, which does massive damage on whatever comes in, Tornadus has hammer arm too.
Bronzong -Honestly most of my team.
Celebi -Tornadus and Magnezone can deal with it sometimes, can cause issues though.
Chansey -Same as Blissey, although a bit easier to take out becuase of entry hazards.
Deoxys-D -Magnezone might be able to deal with this, if needed Politoed and Azumarill can do big damage.
Cofagrigus -Same are Doexys-D.
Crustle -Azumarill if it starts boosting.
Dusclops - Again magnezone deals with this as with Politoed and Azumarill.
Ferrothorn -If magnezone is done, well I am screwed, and even then he does a good job a staying alive. Only Tornadus can even to decent damage to this guy, if it comes in on Azumarill its taking a superpower to the face.
Gigalith -Latios, Azumarill and Politoed.
Gliscor -Tornadus, Politoed and, Azumarill.
Hippowdon -Latios, Azumarill and, Politoed.
Jellicent - Ahh this thing! Latios and Magnezone can threaten thunder, but thats about it.
Latias -Eh not well, Tornadus can do big damage and if its not max speed so can Latios.
Mandibuzz -Magnezone and Latios.
Murkrow - Azumarill fools.
Ninetales - Politoed, if I must though Latios and Azumarill deal with this ok.
Politoed - Latios.
Porygon2 -Yo this thing screws me over, azumarill does big damage but it can still recover it off, and if it gets a thunderwave on me, eh... of course this is the moving one...
Rotom-H -Latios for the most part, Azumarill does big damage.
Rotom-W - This is a big problem, magnezone and Latios can deal with it, but then it just volt changes out... If they are gone I am screwed.
Scolipede -Taunt as a lead, I am unsure if I can take a megahorn though...
Suicune -Latios perhaps, if it gets a few calm minds in though that can be a big problem though.
Swampert -Politoed and Azumarill.
Tentacruel -Magnezone, total counter.
Vaporeon -Superpower to the face most of the time, magnezone best deals with this.
Whimsicott - As a lead taunt usually... but with the right prediction it can screw me over... Tornadus is an ok counter.
Xatu - Shadow ball from Doexys-S.
Zapdos -Nothing well, Magnezone and Latios are ok.
