    When I was in the ICSE system,(uptil tenth grade), the English standard was very high, and I loved it. Doing the next two years under the state syllabus was terrible, as far as English went, the teachers knew nothing and the textbook was like a sixth grade textbook

    Completely agree with Rayne, english teachers, at least here, suck in general.

    Yeah we stopped using english textbooks in Grade seven and just had Macbeth or To Kill a Mockingbird and we'd exchange them every few weeks.

    We had Julius Caesar and stuff before the tenth.

    In the next two years we just had "short stories" that were literally 3 pages in the textbook. Guess what subject was the most boring.
