Umm... Do they make PS2 mice anymore? The "slider" version is always faster and more precise.
Not that I know of. I was leaning towards slider, but my ball mouse has been good to me. Dunno.
I haven't used a ball mouse in years.

Get an optical mouse. The are the "slider" mice of which you speak.

Buy both, use your slider for twenty years, then get children and convince them that ball mice are the latest technology on the market.
Slider mice are better, but I have used a laptop for so long, I don't really buy a standalone mouse

I fused a slider and ball mouse. It could work better, though...

yes. they also refer to new touch screen comps as tablets, not just the artistic equipment

I'm on a lptop, though, and am using one of these touchpads:

Get a Razer Naga, it has 5600 dpi, noiseless operation, ultra-low resistance coatings on the feet and cord, 12 button numpad on the thumbrest, and allows for unlimited profiles. I bought one and it's pretty sweet.

yeah touchpads are the way to go. i used to swore against them and even used a mouse for the longest time after getting a laptop but once that stopped working and i used the touchpad i got acclimated pretty quick and could never go back.
I kinda like the pointing stick on some laptops. But I'm a pretty avid mouse user and so touchpads are annoying to me.
It could be because I'm left handed.

Not a fan of the pointing sticks

There's an art to using a touchpad; index finger on the left click, middle finger on the pad
Touch pads are impossible to game with.
