Default Getting Sprucy: your perceptions of "Dressed Up"

I know a lot of people will say a simple black suit and some light colored pants is considered "dressy"

I know others will say that a simple dress is "dressy"

    What do you consider formal?

I think a dark polo, some light khakis, and a pair of brown shoes is formal enough for my tastes. The only time I'll wear a suit or, god forbid, trim my beard is when it is an event of the utmost importance.

Button up, dark slacks and a pair of nice shoes. Maybe a tie depending on the event.

Considering everyday wear for me is; baggy cargo pants, a band t-shirt (usually Pink Floyd or Iron Maiden or something), and very heavily worn trainers...

I'd say anything with a collar is formal for me.

However, in a serious event, I do enjoy the chance to wear a bowtie.

Lately I've been going to events with a sort of "Lumberjack" look. I've grown fond of brown slacks and red plaid dress shirts.

I've been having a large obsession with all things steampunk recently, and actually want to recreate that look in clothing at some point.

Steampunk is indeed quite popular. I find most steampunk settings to be incredibly engaging for the imagination, and I also feel that all things steampunk should be viewed with a very classy sepia tone.

If you do happen to recreate a most fasionable form of attire, pictures of it (not necessarily you wearing it) would be most interesting. I'd certainly find myself enthralled if you give it an authentic/refined feel.

Formal attire for guys would be a shirt with long sleeves and collar, of course, dark pants and formal shoes.

For women, it would depend on the situation, ie business setting or an occasion you have to dress up for.
