Pokemon of the Week #1
To spur up activity, I decided to do this again. Although with a twist, you, the people, will make and suggest pokemon sets, team options, and counters, as well as make general discussion about the pokemon. Should get some activity.
Houndoom: 229
Type: Fire / Dark
Base Stats
HP: 75
Attack: 90
Defense: 50
Sp. Attack: 110
Sp. Def: 80
Speed: 95
Abilities
Early Bird: Wakes up from sleep, at double the chance
Flash Fire: Makes the pokemon immune from fire moves, and if hit by one, powers its fire moves up
Unerve: When this pokemon is around, no other pokemon can eat berries.
Gold: If you are burned by the flames it shoots from its mouth, the pain will never go away.
Silver: Upon hearing its eerie howls, other Pokémon get the shivers and head straight back to their nests.
Crystal: The pungent-smelling flame that shoots from its mouth results from toxins burning in its body.
Ruby / Sapphire: In a Houndoom pack, the one with its horns raked sharply towards the back serves a leadership role. These Pokémon choose their leader by fighting amongst themselves.
Emerald: In a Houndoom pack, the one with its horns raked sharply back serves a leadership role. They choose their leader by fighting among themselves.
Firered: Upon hearing its eerie howls, other Pokémon get the shivers and head straight back to their nests.
Leafgreen: If you are burned by the flames it shoots from its mouth, the pain will never go away.
Diamond / Pearl: Long ago, people imagined its eerie howls to be the call of the grim reaper.
Platinum: The flames it breathes when angry contain toxins. If they cause a burn, it will hurt forever.
Heartgold: If you are burned by the flames it shoots from its mouth, the pain will never go away.
Soulsilver: Upon hearing its eerie howls, other Pokémon get the shivers and head straight back to their nests.
Black / White: The flames it breathes when angry contain toxins. If they cause a burn, it will hurt forever.

Nasty Plot
Houndoom @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Timid
Evs: 252 Sp. Attack / 6 Sp. Def / 252 Speed
-Nasty Plot
-Fire Blast
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power Grass
Unlike other sets, trying to sneak around with Houdoom’s various moves, this is the move straightforward, and perhaps, the most deadly, as all the other sets, mimic this one because of its power. After a nasty plot boost, Houndoom can 1HKO or 2HKO most of the UU metagame without a problem. Add that with its decent speed, it makes one of the best special wall breakers.
Fire blast is a must on this set, as without it you lose out on multiple KOs, and this thing is so frail it can't afford to not KO. Dark pulse is mainly here for coverage, hitting dragon types and fellow fire types, although is does have some merit killing off the psychics in UU. Also it provides a good stab move to finish off things, when you don't want to risk missing. Finally there is hidden power grass to top it off. Bulky water types and prove to be incredibly bothersome, and at least then you can 2HKO them.
The evs give Houndoom maximum special attack and speed, to of course sweep. Make sure to put that added ev into special defense, or else you will be 4 HKOed by stealth rocks, as opposed to 5HKOed. Timid is the suggested nature, as without it you lose out on multiple speed tiers, all of which are important in UU.
The biggest option is probably the oddest, passho berry. Houndoom can take usually a surf or scald with passho berry, which allows it, with a boost, to hit and 2HKO those bulky waters, but note you will lose much power from the life orb loss. Taunt is also an option here, is you want to taunt some taunt bait, then proceed to nasty plot up, but usually you will need the hidden power. As far as the hidden power goes, hidden power electric is an option, but it only hits Mantine harder, and runs the risk of Lanturn, Quagsire, and Gastrdon coming in. Sucker punch is also an option, for some added utility, but not recommended.
