I can imagine that in France they eat ponyta meat, as the French really do eat horse meat in real life. Pretty gross in my opinion.

Referring from the anime, yes. In A Farfetch'd Tale (as Myuu has already mentioned), I think it said that people eat Farfetch'd because it makes a nice stew, but were difficult to find because of this. Thus, resulting in their depletion as a species, becoming more rare. In this episode, Team Rocket had planned to eat one.
Yes they eat pokemon. My question is do you ever see any normal animals? If not then I would guess there are not any so they would have to eat pokemon in theory. Also the vegetables that they eat could be pokemon as well. Think about that - yep salad and they make metal things out of metal pokemon!
In the earlier anime, there were a few regular butterflies hanging around.

In Pokemon the movie, for the Pikachu thing, there were some beetles.
Weird how they have Pokemon and real animals at first then Pokemon take over the entire show.
Don't forget that Team Rocket sold slowpoke tails for eating in G/S/C gen. Apparently they were 'sweet and tasty'.
But that was strictly unallowed and 'evil'. I think it is best to try to figure out times when they have legimately eaten Pokémon without some menacing kid trying to stop them.
I kicked their butt! Take that Team Rocket!
I wish slowpoke kicked team rockets butts for that.
