Erm as to the topic at hand: Yes, people eat Pokemon. Farfetch'd were nearly hunted to extinction because they taste so good; that was shown in the original games as well as the anime.

I don't know if they eat Pokemon, because in the anime, it once showed James eating a lobster, and Meowth found a clam and stuff.... but who knows? Maybe they do eat them.

Anyone up for Crabby legs? Or maybe even Roasted Tentacruel (it's a giant squid right?)

Do they eat pokemon? I think it's very likely, simply because you're not going to get your protein from berries, or in most cases, drinks. I really don't think people would deprive themselves of vital nutrition over pokemon rights. I also don't think there are any real animals in the pokemon world, simply because their counterparts are far more evolved then they are. The animals would consume resources which the pokemon need, so they fight and are driven to extinction. So, there would only be pokemon, who have many valuable nutrients that most humans would willingly kill for.

It makes you wonder what the Safari Zone is really for....

They most likely do. In one Episode Ash was worried that Professor Oak was going to eat his Krabby. The only reason he would jump to that conclusion would have to be that it was a well known fact that Pokemon are also used for food. But like most animals, not all Pokemon are on the menu. would you eat a dolphin, parrot, or mouse just because it was lunch time?
On the other hand, most of the food I've seen them eat is either fish or poultry. So far I haven't Seen a turkey or hen type Pokemon so there is also a slight chance that there are animals, you just don't see them because none are wild and/ or they’re not important in telling the story.

An idea Hamburgers! 100% Tauros.

I don’t think Pikachu would be on the ‘normal’ menu…

Btw, my Pokemon wouldn’t like it if I ate Pokemon… good thing there are animals here.

Pokemon are the equivalent of animals in Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh. That was pretty silly. Imagine if I said "Btw, my fish wouldn't like it if I ate fish, good thing there are plants here."
