I didn't. I learn new things everyday. Strangely enough, I tend to learn a lot of new things right on the day before my fucking examinations.

a new snowboard and a new graphing calculator.

but seriously we don't have christmas exams, I think your Christmas exam would be like our midterms, which is on Thursday for me. I have an exam for the University of Pittsburgh tomorrow, so that I earn university credit while I'm still in high school.

but honestly i fully admit that its my fault that im too lazy to study this shit but it doesnt pique my interest at all. chemistry in my school is nothing more than a test of your capacity to learn by rote. we have seventeen chapters that we're supposed to cram for a three hour paper. there are hundreds of equations, structures and diagrams that need to be memorised.

the worst part is none of it makes logical sense. you can look at a physics derivation or a math sum and go 'yes i fully understand how they came to that conclusion' but with chemistry 80% of the logic involved is completely fucking arbitrary. all of the stuff just 'happens'. why does phenol on heating with zinc dust become benzene? just because. why does white phosphorus at 573k become red phosphorus? JUST BECAUSE. you cannot take a question and logically derive the conclusion based on theory. the only way you know x happens when y becomes z or a does b when c is if you fucking memorise all of it.

See my teacher is awesome and he always explains theory behind stuff. I really really like chemistry.

think that's due to biochemistry really expanding lately but unsure. may be confusing it with nanotechnology

but no i have my 'future' to take care of because in some fucked up fashion memorising all the reactions of aldehydes is somehow relevant to me becoming a software engineer
