Default I'm a lifeguard over the summer but I currently have no job.

I won't be able to make my car insurance payment unless I get a job like tomorrow, so I won't be able to drive; I need to put in a bunch of applications. Normally my parents would spot me until I can get another job, or just let me not have one during the school year, but my Dad lost his job after Congressman Murtha died and all the defense contractors left, so now he's working in DC and we have to drop cash on rent for him and we have like no money :/

My parents have actually told me not to get a job during my school year. My job is keeping my grades up to maintain my scholarships. I hate mooching, though... And I may not be mooching next year if my mom loses her job, which she's fearing right now. In that case I will have to get a job.

why does everyone complain about not getting jobs? just work at mcdonalds or a grocery store. craigslist is your friend if you're under 18.

the day I turned 15 I got a job at a pet grooming place and babysat with a total of 34 hours a week. then when I turned 16 I worked at an old diner as a waitress, then quit, then worked at the same diner again for 6 months. after that I worked at Steak N Shake as a waitress, then a bar as a cock tail waitress, then at the mall selling hair products, then selling electronic cigs, then a pizza place making pizza, ect. now I work in a big name law firm here in St. Louis.

maybe I just am a people person and always can talk my way into jobs but srsly it's NOT HARD. just apply yourself.

Well most places around here just like, take your application with very little human contact. I'm dropping off a bunch of applications on Monday so hopefully that pans out.

    Wow, mine's the exact opposite.

And Buckwheat's right, most places will even have you apply online, which mean's NO human contact whatsoever

force contact and be friendly. if you keep pushing for it you'll get it.

Kelsh, my roommate is much like you. She's landed lots of jobs due to her high charisma. I've learned a lot from her- that I tend to underestimate myself, like many others, and that with a bit of confidence I can accomplish my goals much more easily. It's less a matter of having that personality, though that's convenient for you, and more a matter of forcing yourself to put yourself out there, like you said.

if you're the one person who attempts to make human contact then they've already got a reason to remember you over the x amount of people that applied
