    Default Small Businesses

I don't think they work at all in any economy. In a communist or socialist economy there is no need for them at all. And in the capitalist economy, they just get outsourced by larger businesses and end up needing a purposeful effort from the community, or government help, to say afloat.

I could go into more depth, but I don't feel like debating points everyone already agrees with/doesn't care about.

Wait, are you actually arguing that small businesses are worse for a capitalist economy?

Clearly you aren't familiar with how 'perfect competition' in a capitalist economy is supposed to work. In a communist economy, Lenin originally allowed small businesses in the original USSR.

Yeah probably. Its just that after taking "small business management" the whole thing seems like a terrible idea. Honestly I would rather have all businesses be gaint monopolies which are heavily taxed and regulated by the government / owned by the government.

No, that's a bad idea. You need profit incentive and allocative efficiency, therefore you need small businesses. Not to mention monopolies often have undue influence on government policy.

Monopolies owned by the government are often unnecessary in things other than health, energy and education. Who wants government-run mobile phone companies (or even a mobile phone company, according to your thinking) or government-run software companies? Not to mention farms. We whole-heartedly, never, ever want a kolkhoz-structured agriculture system.

I swear that your views are just the direct opposite of anything that could possibly be beneficial to the world. Do you want the government to run human abattoirs, coinciding with previous views you've expressed?

Admitidly small businesses do church out more innovation than the government, but government funded research programs find/make things fine, even if it is at a slower pace.

I would be fine with all that Hicky, I think it would be very efficent and great for everyone.

I don't think you need a slaughter house if they are already dead Hicky. My views on cannibalism are very explicit, they must die naturally.

Food prices would go up, farmers would revolt and refuse to let their arable land be nationalised, people would DIE. This is why people claim that "communism kills people because not everyone has enough!" It's not true but forcing small land-owners to maximise food production without the profit incentive and tactical selling of their crop harvests means that agriculture suffers severely. Read a history textbook.

I want a blissful utopia and could easily carry it out with a few m8s, but in nationalising industries like agriculture a serious number of problems exist.

I don't think there are any small farm owners anymore Hicky. Atleast in America anyway, 90% of farms are owned by a larger business.

There are plenty of tenant farm-holders. My grandparents own a farm. Americans really need to look at the world outside of America.

My grandparents own their own farm as well. They only go to their local store to buy supplies such as salt and fish.

In fact, the whole town is 100% family houses and small businesses. Small businesses have their purposes Kirby.

I knew what Kirby said about 90% of farms being owned by big businesses looked wrong but I couldn't find any statistics to prove it.

I heard that statistic ironically from a liberal video I watched bitching about how all the family farms are disapearing.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_...he_family_farm

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, ninety-eight percent of all farms in the U.S. are family farms.

stop watching liberal videos and defining yourself as a 'liberal'. surely you've realised by now that that american political terminology and culture is flawed and should be rejected completely, everyone else on this forum seems to have realised that

you don't even need to check your sources. if you've ever taken Agriculture 101 (i'm not sure if that exists in American high schools) you should be familiar with the fact that running farms is not a large-scale operation, due to the diversity of rural suppliers and retailers
