University of Colorado at Boulder ain't a half-bad state school either.

It was my second choice but they refused to give me financial aid so their acceptance letter meant nothing to me.

it doesnt matter if its a state school or a private school. what matters is how reputed the school is in whatever course youre taking. you might study engineering at harvard but you will be at a disadvantage when compared to students from state schools like berkeley or michigan or ILLINOIS because they are known for their exceptionally strong engineering departments. the only perks to going to a school on the calibre of harvard is the connections that you can make and the 'prestige' - and impressing people at parties is the only place where prestige comes into play if the prestigious university is relatively shit at your field.

i dont even know why harvard is considered a benchmark anyway. stanford seems like a much better school.

I actually do really want to do Petrol Engineering. You get to live in a tent in some of the most beautiful places in America (Alaska etc) and in addition you make a ton of money. Also, I'm pretty big against natural gas drilling, and I think it'd be fucking awesome to work on a way to do it that's better for the environment and saves money at the same time.

It'll turn into the is passive aggressive competition where we exaggerate how tough it is, even though you're probably gonna have your nose to the grindstone and I'll be breezing by.

The midwest has no accent Rayne, unless you mean the general American accent.

Wiki midwest if you don't believe me. The midwest accent is considered to be the standard American accent. Second paragraph of linguistic characteristics.

Geez the over the shoulder stare is disconcerting, it's like they don't have souls or something. They were talking pretty regular though.

    That wasn't midwestern accent.

That was like... northeastern accent or something. It sounded weird to me too. :S

There were several accents in that video, so to say one was midwest or east coast or what have you is stupid. UCI has a bunch of people from all over the world and I bet many of these random people have various accents. It's like saying if Rayne was in that video that people in the midwest all have sand desert accents. Talking to Kelsi and her family and people from the St. Louis con I can say they do have a sort of different way of speaking English being from the midwest. They talk a little slower compared to east coast people like me who speak a mile a minute. They sort of have a drawl but nothing like those in the south or south west.

I got neutral which is not Southern, Western or Northern. Just basic typical American accent.
