unrelated: my dads friend, whose daughter went to berkeley, made me feel kinda bad about getting into uiuc

like we're all excited that im going to SOME university at least and then he pops up saying 'well its OKAY but you dont need to go there if you get into some better university like say hmm i dont know maybe something like BERKELEY'. then he starts talking about how awesome berkeley is and all the nobel laureates and the california weather and blah blah blah.

Well that doesn't even count then. She wasn't even good enough to go there in her undergrad and on top of that she couldn't even get into a program they are even fucking known for and on top of that she got the most meaningless post-undergrad degree of all. If you really want to get into a real ivy league status college for your past-undergrad just do amazing things in your private school. That's how most people that matter get into those places anyways.
