It not "the times", I've just never been social, and well, pd is a good show of how it goes when I try to be social. So I gave up pretty much. Now I don't give a fuck.

I use it to keep in contact with people. Odds are, I'll never talk to many of the people I have on Facebook, but it's an easy point of contact should I need it.

I have Facebook to 'like' random things like Skittles and Pepsi. They say random things sometimes that amuses me.

But seriously, I just use it to get updates on some video games and to get free stuff from Sony like a free dynamic The Last of Us XMB theme for my PS3.

just because I post and others post doesn't mean I fit in, in just means I'm making an effort on some level to be accepted into a small circle of society, regardless of whether or not I actually am.

google plus seems better but no one uses it which makes it pointless as a 'social network'

Everyone already uses facebook, so as long as it's decent people will be too lazy to bother switching. wait until they pull that one big fucked up change and people will start to ditch, but for now google plus is for the hipsters.

They have expert analysts who know about human psychology. They are not stupid enough to do a "fucked up change". The only thing that will change preferences is if Facebook becomes massively mired in scandals or, paradoxically, if they don't change it enough and people get bored of it.

Total Facebook users is growing but people in the Anglophone world are ditching it, which is a testament to the extent its prioritised translation and the fact that it is yet to be ingrained in the psyche of Middle Eastern people in the way they tell their gran to get it. There's hope for humanity yet.

Yes, but they've already gone through the stuff about saving chat logs and deleted pictures and such, so I'm pretty sure that they'd have to start saving financial/other important personal data, and then have that info stolen from within the company before people would find scandals to be a big enough reason.

As for boring, that's part of why I left. Granted, I've always been bad about maintaining a devotion to anything on the internet, but I got tired of the repetitiveness of it. everyone I know posting every little thing that no one cares about or wants to know, or constantly being invited to play every retarded game they have (fuck you zynga).

And yes, I know i probably would fall into the category of those who just watch everyone else posting updates about parties and such, but I could care less about the bible bangers I know singing kumbiya (i know it's spelled wrong) or the drunken stoners talking about their latest trips and stds.


tl;dr: I think that for the most part facebook is for the weakminded, those who want to be "popular", and those who are "popular" to flaunt their lives around, although there are exceptions.
