Some exciting news...

Yesterday, I found out some person/bot broke into our server and was using a ridiculous amount of bandwidth. How ridiculous? 2 Terabytes a day. That's 1,000 Gigabytes. This has apparently been going on for nearly a week and I was hit with a bill for nearly $2,000 (which is about how much I've paid for server fees in the past two years combined).

I spent all of yesterday stopping it, trying to figure it out, and talking to our host to figure out a solution.

Sometime in the next week I will be migrating PokeDream to a new server with monitoring so that this stuff won't happen again. So, just a heads up, the forums may be down for a few hours (or maybe a day).

Facebook servers has a HUGE amount of bandwidth space and would be very useful for this problem..

I've been telling you about the bot issues for 4 months now. It's not natural that PD had 14,000+ members in less than a year. You don't get that kind of bot activity without a hack of some sort or nefarious doings of another person or entity. I could bet you that a lot of the UI problems we have been having have something to do with your $2,000 dollar bandwidth joyride problem.

So you are saying the 14k+ have no correlation that PD is infected with something? Yeahhh.

It actually doesn't. Web server bandwidth usage is completely normal. We'd have to get 1,000 times the traffic for me to even think that these forum bots were involved. They clearly weren't.
