Interest, aparently it has new battle mechanics too.

I wonder if it will spark off a new kind of metagame.

Got it, just started it. It IS a bit like Final Fantasy Tactics. No levels, instead, the characters form a 'link' with a pokemon and every battle that link goes up (and maybe down if you lose) Also you have a main character but their are multiple other characters and you can have several trainers under your command in a game. The majority of the characters are drawn from... i THINk Chinese history? Maybe it's Japanese, I'm a poor Southern White Boy, don't know much bout the variations of yella. Still it's pretty interesting so far.

its just FFT with some pokemon. its ok, but i'd rather see the first 3ds title.

Question, just picked it up so haven;t done much. In Combat; does being on higher ground/attacking from behind have any effect? I know it does in some of those Tactical type games...

I realize it's a bit early to start speculation on this, but I'd like to get ahead of the game, pardon the pun.
