"what a pandering, repetitive, annoying song."
-review of every linkin park song
linkin park has this consistent pattern of writing pandering songs about angsty "living in darkness" and "pain". this is entirely applicable to "overcoming the power" implying that there is a struggle or inner problem within the character written into the song. there is not 1 linkin park without angst, whine, pretense, or a heavy level of bland repetition. these 2 posted songs are no exception.
Well, I open my eyes and I see things. I've seen spirits moving through the walls. I've seen a vortex coming through the wall. I've seen amorphous little balls of light bouncing all around in the front yard through the window. I've seen giant bugs on the floor. I was in a hotel room in Amarillo, Texas, and all I remember is standing on the bed and seeing the whole wall in front of me filled with lights that were [makes popping sound] popping like popcorn out of the wall. Then I'll wake up and I go "Wow, I was standing on my bed and staring at this wall."

"I'll go," said Chagataev. "But what will I do there? Build socialism?"
"What else?" said the secretary.
No that's pretty fucking terrible, no offense
Seeing as I actually enjoy Linkin Park, I'd no doubt agree that this is a good song.
But I can see how it's a departure from their usual style, allowing people who don't usually appreciate their music to find something they like in it.
seven what in fuck's fuck?
IT IS DIFFERENT FROM USUAL LINKIN PARK, SO PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE LINKIN PARK MIGHT LIKE IT.

linkin park songs may be pandering, annoying and repetitive but to say that they have no merit whatsoever musically is a huge stretch
i liked them when i was 12 and a girl.
i tend to see linkin park as a pot pourri of good musicians aggressively assembled and marketed to the mainstream media.
i liked their early demos, although i respect the fact that that's a pretty hipster thing to say
my vagina would swoon for them and their inspiring "overcoming darkness" stories that were so original and cool. then one day when my penis slapped me in the face, i said "wow... edgar sylvia plath wrote that song way earlier than them. i wonder how this darned contraption of a dick works..."
and thats how i learned to masturbate at 13.
