    Default Dear God

I read about Regan's landslide victorys in the 80s, but I didn't get how stupid the 80s were until now.

If you lived in this era and did not find this disgusting, you have no shame.

Haven't you heard of the Reagan Revolution? The 80's was when the republicans first started growing their crazy tumor. They were so pissed about all of the social change and economic prosperity.

So it's just a random wildcard of 3 electoral votes...

Its interesting to look at the time line of electoral maps, modern Republicanism sprouted in the fucking mid west after WW2. The south was a democratic hold out until the 1960s, it was only after the American party died, that republicanism came in.

California has only been Democratic since Clinton.

It's quite possibly the shittyest democratic election system on the planet. There is a way for about 30% of the population to have their candidate win the election, if they win small states with low populations.

    I agree with god.

My main acceptance stems from the fact that without the current system rural states like Wyoming would get almost no voice at all, despite owning large swaths of land. Now that might sound kind of stupid at face value, but if the open spaces of America go without a real voice, they could fall quickly into disrepair. For example, lets say a coal plant is polluting a large rural area. Without an electoral system, the concerns of those sparse people in the middle of no where might have no backing when compared to people that live in the city and are unaffected by the coal plant. Without more of a vote for their land, the problem over a wide area might never be solved.

I wouldn't really mind one vote per state, it would get rid of the race to win swing states.
