    Default Calling All Talent

Have you ever wanted your ideas and talented gifts appreciated by others and shown to people all around the world? Have you ever wanted to collaborate your ideas with a team and see them come to life in ways even you could never imagine alone? Have you ever had some GREAT ideas but had no where to actually "put them on paper?" Are you an artist, a musician, a writer/story maker, a programer, good at solving problems and creative? If so a production studio wants YOU. And not just ANY production studio, but one run by the man himself, Dogar The Brave. What "project" are you talking about Dogar you may ask? Well, I'll tell you PD talent. I am in the process of forming a diverse team with various skills and unique attributes to create a RPG video game of a genre to be determined. The end goal is not to just make a great and engaging game that many players around the world will love but also to make some money. The estimated value of this game will sell for around $14.99 but this number can always change. Our hope is to gain enough fan base on our first game to sell even more video games for more money. If you are interested in getting on the ground floor of this project please post in this thread. Questions are welcomed. So talent of PD, come on board and make your mark in the video game world!

I'm for real about this but wanted to make it seem like one of those asshole ads you see for things like this. I'm making a team to make a RPG, for real. Who wants in?

Turn base, gameplay is NES/SNES rig style close to the old DQ games in complexity and engine I don't know what the hell you mean.

I think you will be best suited for possible character design and level development.

We are looking for writers for sure. Of course I would have God as the lead writer but we need more heads to make this more appealing to the general gamer population.

Well, by engine I mean that are free development kits on the market (or non-free ones) that can ease the process due to having a library of resources already created. For example, a lot of AAA games use the Unreal Engine which was developed by Epic Games and uses C++. You don't have to use a pre-existing engine, but I would think it would be easier.

Oh, yeah it is a kit I downloaded (illegally) that was originally made for Japan but translated into English. It will make our lives a lot easier and thus why we aren't so tied to people who program BUT we would still like people who know their way around some code for obvious reasons. That being said no one needs to be h@krs or something to work on this project, just anyone with a decent underlining background in programing who can work well in team settings.

None at all, that's your department God, you are head writer. Of course you won't be alone others will collaborate with you, including myself but you are the master of that universe. As far as character development and dialogue there will be teams within your team who will develop that as well.

before you figure out a plot you should probably identify your target audience, unless you have some key inspiration in mind

It would be easier to create the mechanics and then design a story around them. It's easier to write a story once you know what you can do. Before you know, writing in the script something like "and then the party was chased by a dragon" for example and then realizing that you cannot pull off this scene good enough and having to adjust the story. Mechanics should come before most of the plot is finished, especially since good games show, not tell.

Oh dear god all of this.

EDIT: Essentially, do not lock yourself into a story. Lots of things in development will change the story. On top of this, people can find a story in any other medium. Mechanics are a large part of games. Typically one wants a playable prototype of a game before even thinking about a full story.

EDIT2: What you really want to do is start with a basic idea of what you want to convey. What emotion or idea do you want to explore? Then find mechanics that help you do such. And then weave a barebones story around these mechanics and ideas.

Yeah story is gonna be the big thing. If we need to change some stuff so be it but I will never play a game without a good plot even if there are some texty moments.

    lol

I can't seem to figure out a way for people to run a c++ program without a downloaded compiler, the best I am getting is to save it as like pokemon*.cpp in notepad and open it, but that does not seem to work for me

any online compilers refuse to work for mine because they aren't powerful enough to transition between integers and floats + all the other math I am doing
