Default Seeing As I Just Got Hired For A Fairly Lucrative Summer Postion

I treated myself to an ereader/tablet. Bought a new Nook HD+ for $150. Had $50 in gift cards so I said why not. I was reluctant to do so before I got paid but as we all know Nooks will be no more very soon so I bought before they were all gone. (lol yeah right) And although they won't sell them support will still be there, even if it is just for a year or so. Why did I buy one you may ask? Well, I like reading manga but it's too pricey etc. Why the Nook HD+ you ask? Really it was for the microSD slot and we all know why. Jailbreak it and I'm good. Really only downside is no GPS (have an iPhone) and no camera (have an iPhone), and the charger port is not a microUSB (have an iPhone). I am curious though, what are you top picks for tablets regardless of price? With the Nook HD+ in mind for $150, what do your think is the most cost effective tablet on the market?

there is really no beating the ipad in the tablet market. 4 in 5 tablets sold are ipads. if youre buying anything else, you're compromising on pretty much everything but price.

I don't know, the inability to add storage is a waste to me. So I pay over twice as much for a system that will always have 16 GB. Granted you get cameras on both ends but eh, not something I care about. And 4 out of 5 AIDS victims are black, does THAT make black people better Rayne, HM?

better software, better support, non-fragmented update schedule, by far the largest array of third party applications and accessories, incredible build quality - i would argue that those are more important than expandable storage.

Well I DO love the OS for Apple products but to me I have all I need in that regard from them in my iPhone. I don't know about third party apps and I don't give a fuck about "the large array" of accessories because everyone has a case, hdmi adaptors (although I don't think the iPad does actually, unless you have an Apple TV you are stuck with a paid third party app that you have to have a TV box to use it), chargers, keyboards/mouse and headphones. Quality is great on Apple products I will admit but if a tablet lasts 2-3 years I'm happy. In my opinion all that iPads have in regards to this don't outweigh expandable storage.

Oh and the support, again I don't know much about it but you are most likely 100% right on that front.

How much you want to bet? Double the wager if you bet how it dies.

uh sure it'll function, but i doubt it will be very usable. ill be surprised if you managed to use it past a year without frustration.

What do you think I'm going to do with it? It's a portable movie player that allows me to read books and watch porn on the go. What else would anyone use these things for that wouldn't work in a YEAR? And regardless of the product, I ALWAYS get frustrated for one thing or another.

Not a full time postion but better than working at a part time job in most places. I can sleep well getting paid $25 an hour for a 40 hour work week for what I'm doing for a month before the interview weeks start for the fall and spring full time positions.

you'll be able to watch your porn but after a year it will lag like hell

So you bet in a year that my tablet will "fail" (not really be useable) in a year and you double the wager citing its system's sluggishness. Ok, now the wager. If I win I get to choose your avatar for 2 weeks, if you win, you get to do the same. I think that's an honorable bet, what do you think?

literally any electronic device with non trivial software will become slow and sluggish over time for a number of reasons. the fact that the software running the nook is a hack of an already outdated android (which is not known for its robustness by any means) version means that its way more susceptible to the system choking up.
