latest i watched was 'taste of cherry.' its iranian, about a guy who wants to kill himself and tries to find someone who will bury him after he dies. its pretty minimalist and consists of him driving around in his car talking to people trying to convince him to do it, but i actually thought it was quite entertaining with the cinematography and discussions etc and its a cool idea and very well done.

'la haine' (hate) is a 90s french film about the minority underclass, its very good and entertaining although the ending is a bit over done. if you dont want something minimalist and slow moving go with that.

if you can deal with something REALLY minimalist and slow moving but very emotional watch 'late spring' by ozu. these are the most recent 3 i've watched.

its very highly rated generally but the one time i watched it, although i thought it was reasonably entertaining, i really didnt think it was all that great. maybe the fact i watched the dubbed version and was too lazy to switch to subs ruined it for me.

    that sounds awesome.

depends, I recommend 'Tirez sur le pianiste' or basically anything by Francois Truffaut. He's an amazing director who never uses gimmicks and most of his films are shot improptu in the streets they're supposed to be in without warning on pretty much no budget.
