    Default feminine hair care 101

So yeah... I have absolutely no idea how to take care of my hair, mind you I have grown out my hair a few times, but because I have no idea of how to take care of it, I kind of just look like a stoner with long hair, you know the look.

So basically, to the ladies of PD, what the heck are like the basics to hair care, because I have literally 0 idea of where to start, to put this into perspective, I use body wash to clean my hair currently, I think my father takes care of what little hair he has better.

My hair naturally turns into a Jew fro, regardless of what I do. Even if I get a short cut it turns into a jew fro within two weeks

You're going to need to use conditioner to keep it looking nice, all shampoo does it help get the dirt and grime out. And then you have to figure what your hair naturally is: straight, curly, wavy, etc. If you are going for a look that your hair doesn't naturally fall into, you're going to have to use tools to help you, like a straightener or curler. The longer your hair gets, the more maintenance it will require, and you'll have to trim out split ends.

I would uh... not use body wash in my hair. Do you have greasy hair? Sprinkle a brush with flour or baby powder to fix that. It's also more important to not over use hair products, you have to let your hair breath.

    thanks

the only feminine options at my school store (surprisingly) are:
    -dove moisturizer
    -herbal essences shampoo
    -herbal essences volumizer / conditioner

So the conditioner right? The moisturizer is only for the body I think so idk if I need that.

Baby powder? I will look for that hmm. I think I may need a new deodorant as well.

Get the shampoo and conditioner. It's always better if they match, by the way.

I've also experimented a lot with different shampoos. Some just don't suit your hair as well as others, so you need to know what brands are better for you. And get a haircut that you not only like, but you are also sure that you can maintain the style and length well.

welp, I only bought the conditioner and now am out of money, although in theory I could do some tinkering with my account to get a few more bucks

anyway, you like only use one at a time right, you don't mix them right? just wondering

    Mix what?

You use the shampoo to rinse out your hair and clean it, then use the conditioner and rinse out your hair again.

For starters, you have the instructions RIGHT THERE on the bottle.

But since its soo much easier to read it here its:

Wash your hair. (You use shampoo for that.)
Then you rinse the shampoo out.
Then you condition (use the conditioner) and comb it through your hair.
    Then rinse that out too.
    Just do it.

You use conditioner after cleaning your hair out with shampoo. You lather conditioner between your hands, then apply it to your hair from the ends up. Unless otherwise labelled, you wash out conditioner from your hair just like you do with shampoo. The point of conditioner is to protect your hair from the elements, unlike shampoo which just cleans it, however there are bottles that combine them into one formula which is what I use, so it's not unheard of to use them at the same time. But it's best to do one then the other.

Not necessarily. Your scalp doesn't need the conditioner, don't put it on your scalp, but make sure it gets into the rest of your hair evenly. And don't forget the tips of your hair.

so I watch a video about it to see it, just wanted to check

you squirt it into your hands
apply it mainly the the hair, not the scalp, and pull out from like midway to the end of the hair

    right?

    right?
Yeah. I usually do it from higher up than midway though, just not the scalp. It's pretty straightforward. And leave the conditioner in for a minute or two. There are directions on the bottle, so just follow that and you're fine.
