But Cosmo was never about existing, Cosmo was an indefinite but still definitely short timeframe allowing for teenage escapism... we all knew this when we started posting on it.
Well, I open my eyes and I see things. I've seen spirits moving through the walls. I've seen a vortex coming through the wall. I've seen amorphous little balls of light bouncing all around in the front yard through the window. I've seen giant bugs on the floor. I was in a hotel room in Amarillo, Texas, and all I remember is standing on the bed and seeing the whole wall in front of me filled with lights that were [makes popping sound] popping like popcorn out of the wall. Then I'll wake up and I go "Wow, I was standing on my bed and staring at this wall."
cosmo was pretty cool at times, but the bursts of SUPER activity it had at times during the summers were just too annoying. i dont think i've really been a particularly good poster since cosmo stopped being around. lack of effort, losing my touch, less to work with? who can say.
cosmo was an experiment that turned out to be far more successful than anticipated. lord and i were pretty certain that it wouldnt last more than a few weeks - that it lasted 3 years with at least 2 years of consistent activity was beyond our wildest expectations.
But as long as our tenure as web overlords lasted, it ended far too quickly. Such is the life one can expect when living the definition of THE INTERNET DREAM
It was just another Gr00vy, nothing special.
if you had to list a few bizzare factors that together made cosmo work...
the classic rekhyt/rayne dynamic duo
the cult following of celery justin walker etc
the small board layout
the lack of moderation
the fact that we just happened to know a whole bunch of internet refugees and renegades who had nowhere else to go, picked up from 2007 onwards
a desire for some of us who meet years before to keep in touch with each other
it's pretty weird if you think about it
gr00vy was relatively close to peak cosmo activity in summmer 2007, probably for only about 3-4 weeks though
i miss actively posting on a forum i feel 100% comfortable on
