i recommend that EVERYBODY on this forum reads "Cocaine Nights" by J.G. Ballard. it's the second best 'dystopian' novel i've read after 1984. also i don't really like brave new world.

if you want me to describe it more to try and get you to read it i will.

i usually enjoy most of the stuff god recommends. i think me and god have an eerily similar taste in art.

Yeah in retrospect brave new world isn't that great of a book. I was just enamored by it because I've always been interested in the concept of a utopian society and it was the first thing I've read which was an intelligent and thought-out treatment of the idea.

Yes, I don't think it lends itself well to being read.

All plays are much better watched than read, they were written that way.

Well obviously, but unlike a lot of plays (Shakespeare's for instance) Waiting for Godot just isn't very good in its written form.

Shakespeare isn't very good in written form either, there's a video somewhere on youtube of how there's so much more to Shakespeare's plays if they're read in a middle english accent m

its interesting how theres a sort of reverse okie migration happening in california right now, with gentrification of the sf bay area leading to the displacement of locals by wealthy people working in the tech industry

Heart of Darkness or Nausea would lend themselves to that kind of time frame.

I tried reading the bible for fun once since I was bored in a hotel room.

It wasn't very fun. :F Just a bunch of names I may or may not be pronouncing right doing whatever because God told them to.

I've never actually attempted to read the entirety of the Bible, even during the time I still had to go to church.
