The Philippines God! The cost of living there is about $12,000 a year, $24,000 to have a high level of living and we'd be making $45,000 a year through our US job AND not get charged Federal income tax. We would live like gods!!!!

I'm almost 100% serious about this. Without the federal income tax the money I make and save in the Philippines is equivalent to my government kick back. Hell if we don't like it we can go to Bangladesh, Spain, Italy, Greece etc.! It won't matter where we live because we work online. And then the summers off, we are in paradise.

yeah, but if you're just wealthy relative to poorer people, then you're not particularly better off anyways

My quality of life will change seldom in a big city modern apartment in the Philippines for the fraction of the price it is to live in the US with the same salary of 45k. In addition I get a maid. ECONOMICS.

I did some research and it turns out you're right. Check it out:

Still, that's not a big a difference as you claimed, and I'm pretty skeptical about you dodging income tax (If not from the IRS, then from the Philippine collection agency).

58% is a big difference man, that turns a 45k salary into a 90k salary. which yeah, a single person can live pretty extravagantly on.

In addition you know nothing about US international tax code. If you live in a foreign country and make less than 100k you do not have to pay federal income tax but you do have to pay the tax of the country you live in, which is like nothing in the Philippines.

Furthermore, we will live like gods and you can't dispute it.

I will give you this though Solly, the Philippines tax for our salary is 33% now that I have invested more time up this so you comments weren't all for not. If we live I the US for over 180 days of the year though, or say we live there, then we could get a lower US tax rate. All things being considered we would live a lavished life at the same cost of a normal life in the US even with the 33% tax.

'lavish life' is subjective. youd have a higher purchasing power and could probably get things like a bigger house, maid, etc but you'll still lack a lot of the things that americans take for granted like good infrastructure, sanitation, exceptional healthcare and a plethora of other goods and services that are either hard or impossible to find outside america, especially in a developing country like the philippines.

also theres the culture gap. im not sure how xenophobic filipinos are but with any asian country there's a certain amount of exclusion that you'll never be able to get past regardless of how long you live there - you will always be an 'other'. of course white people are all the rage in the east so you'd have some benefits too, like people being impressed/awestruck with your accent and filipino broads falling into your lap.
