Of Hope and Despair (Pokemon, High Literate)

Many wanted to have the perfect pokemon. Perfect companion. Perfect at battle. Perfect at beauty. Perfect at something. That was the trend. The latest thing. AD 2045 marked the year of a new era. It was known as the Era of Genesis. It symbolized the birth of genetically engineered pokemon. These new medical breakthroughs gave way to intellectually enhanced pokemon who were able to interact with humans through human speech. At a time this was swell. It was even deemed wonderful. First through mechanical means, then through natural breeding. It was prominent.

AD 2345. This marked the 300th Anniversary of the Era of Genesis. Pokemon are now intelligent that they mixed in with humans. Human-pokemon relationships were not uncommon. Nor are human-pokemon children. But chaos brewed from 'Humanitarians' who forcibly strived to conserve the Human race and not mix with pokemon. War broke out, naturally. Pokemon against Humans. Hence dawned Mid-Genesis.

The AD 1905 ideal, known as the Act of Coexistence marked the 'urbanization' of pokemon into society. Pokemon became acknowledged as house pets, battle partners, and the like. Azurath Maelstrom was a pioneer in his days. He spoke of a time where Pokemon and Humans would live as equal beings. Pokemon would consort with Humans on equal footing, no boundaries such as the 'pet' ideal. Fortunately for him, this was the threatening truth. Had he known that 140 years into his future, it would be realized. And 440 years dawned a war because of his ideals.

Humanitarians, those who dislike pokemon-human relations, and restrict them to the ideals of the Act of Coexistence, at first though, yet not distorting time to realize that. In reality, they believed in the hierarchy where a pokemon was defined by its trainer, and unlike the Act of Coexistence, they provoke dominance and give little to no freedom of choice for their pokemon. Their pokemon has been implemented with certain mechanisms called a "Chain", which necessarily might not be a chain, which keeps said pokemon under the control of a Humanitarian.

The Pokemon lie within the opposite scale, trying to save their kind from discriminated and persecuted. And those who strive for equality with Pokemon were known amongst themselves as Peacebringers, but coined 'Pokemon' by the opposition. As put by them, "Those who stand by filth are filth themselves."

But the ancient rules of battle didn't cease. Humans fighting against Pokemon, humanitarians, may have had their own firepower with Chained Pokemon, as known to the Pokemon opposition. They believed that humans are merely mechanisms, only used as battle means.

What side of the scale do you lie on? Are you a Humanitarian, fighting to conserve the purity of humans? Or are you a Pokemon trying to persevere through the harshness of the Mid-Genesis Era, living a solemn life, or fighting back? This War isn't whole scale, contrary to popular belief, but it lingers within every - breathing - soul.

Personality - Cold hearted and cruel, Alexander will not stop and let a living hybrid or pokemon breathe unless death struck him first. At the surface he may appear a kindhearted soul, society has taught the means of persuasion, and can appear lovingly to anyone, but when struck, reality surges in, and his words turn from roses to thorns. A man of deep ideals and thoughts, he is usually seen reading a book to further his knowledge on any aspect. Never the first to make a move, he observes carefully and then acts on his observation.

- Gallade; "Honor" -
Honor held respect and dignity above all, henceforth he was given the name. He cherished Alexander with all his heart, yet Alexander treats him like dirt. His passion for Alexander is to the point where Honor would sacrifice his own life if it meant Alexander living. His chain is Alexander's eyes.

History - Unbeknownst to himself, Alexander is the offspring of a Male Gallade and a Female Human. Physical elements of his father are yet to appear, thus he appears fully human. He does exhibit some telekinesis which may be the cause of his Gallade lineage. Born in Saint Saffron Citadel (Saffron City became a grand citadel at this era), Alexander was educated and very much sociable.

He loathed hybrids and Pokemon alike, and has joined the Humanitarians in their regime to destroy all hybrids and possibly put Pokemon in their place. During one of the cataclysmic chaos, Alexander's mother was caught in the crossfire and tragically died a sorrow death. Alexander was greatly tormented by his mother's death, and this only fed the anger he had for hybrids and Pokemon. He decided to implement a Heartless Kill psyche and showed no mercy to his opposition.

His own means of battle was his pokemon, ironically a Gallade. Chained by Alexander's eyes, the Gallade was at Alexander's whim unconditionally. They have bonded greatly since 5 years ago when they first met, and though as hypocritical as it may be, Alexander shows even the slightest passion for his Gallade, dubbed Honor. Little did Alexander know that that Gallade was his own father.

Stubborn and arrogant, two terms that can be used to suit Dante as he was growing up and building his lifestyle around his personality. Under serious positions, he is smart and makes wise decisions. Once Dante is right to him in his mind, there is no stopping him or changing his mind, unless it's something drastic or life threatening. Also, Dante sometimes enjoys going into deep a pensive about anything. Daydreaming is a bad habit. Don't mess with him in the morning, because he is rather cantankerous.

Alike his trainer Dante, Eevee is stubborn and arrogant with everyone except Dante. Eevee is quick into decisions during battle, meaning that when Eevee is into a disadvantage, he takes everything into his own hands, and then sets the tone for the rest of the match. Eevee is also about twice the size of an average one. About the size of it's evolutions, Eevee weighs 35 lbs. and is 3 feet his. A slight amount of scars covering the beauty on it's face, which gives him a rough and intimidating look.

Born in one of the four monarchs, Vermillion Metropolis, Dante had access to many landmarks and many libraries to read about the historic pasts of various regions and areas of the Pokemon world. Dante grew up reading at the various libraries and read about all of the regions. When Dante was 7, he had the education of a college graduate. That is when he earned a Pokemon egg, which a couple months later hatched to become an Eevee.

Eevee grew up with Dante and went everywhere with him. With the ability of Pokemon to speak, they had become good friends. Eevee kept growing and developed a cool and sly voice. Eevee developed his personality earlier than Dante developed his. Eevee also developed a various movepool, which was unlike a normal Eevee, which you can say made this Eevee abnormal.

Growing up, Dante read lots about the Act of Coexistence, and there came his decision. From the day he read about the Act of Coexistence, he had decided that he would not respect those who chose to mix Pokemon a Human kind. Humans were not meant to stick their penis's in Pokemon vagina/ass or have any time of oral, and vice versa. Never in this damn world had Dante seen anything of the sort. He said that after he read, because he had not know of this matching before he picked up that one book at the library.

When Dante reached the age of eleven, he had explored the four regions, Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, and returned home after his adventures at the age of 17. Not so much has changed, but his plans stay the same, to eliminate all matchings of Pokemon and Human. He still thinks it is preposterous.

Name - Vanthos
Appearance - Vanthos is a short, 4'8'', blue-eyed 14-year-old boy with dirty blond hair reaching his shoulders that he holds back in a loose, low ponytail. He gives off a fragile, almost feminine look, and wears a loose, white shirt, turquoise pants. He wears a bracelet on his right wrist, and a penchant given to him by his estranged younger sister, Teal. He has a relatively boyish voice and face, giving off no trace of puberty.

Personality - Despite his fragile looks, Vanthos gives off a two-faced personality -- one that seems innocent and kind, and another that seems ruthless and cruel. He cares not for the opinions or lives of some, but at the same time seems to care deeply for others. An enigma at the very least, giving little to no clues of his past other than the obvious assumption that he is a very disturbed child. He has what some would call an angelic singing voice, and seems to have the mysterious ability of putting people to sleep with his voice, among other abilities. However, in no way is Vanthos related to Pokemon.

History - Little is known about Vanthos's past, but a thorough search through government files would reveal that Vanthos and his younger sister Teal are the bastard child of a young woman who was killed in the midst of fighting between Humanitarians and Pokemon shortly after giving birth to Teal. Predictably, Vanthos attempted to raise Teal on his own at the tender age of four while keeping away from the authorities, but were eventually placed in foster care.

While his sister adjusted well to foster care and was eventually adopted by a local family, Vanthos did not. Foster families reported him as being hostile, violent, and unpredictable at one moment and the model child at the next. Due to his erratic behavior, Vanthos failed to be adopted despite his charming outward appearance, and eventually ran away from home at the age of eight. He lived on the streets after that, eventually finding a friend in a baby Shinx.

Despite his runaway status, Vanthos managed to keep in regular contact with his younger sister. While holding a grudge against everyone else, Vanthos cherished his sister to the point of obsession. However, by the time Teal was nine and Vanthos thirteen, she had grown tired of his reckless behavior and his hostility towards others, and rejected him. Distraught, Vanthos swore to make everyone's lives as miserable as his own, and decided that above all, he hated his sister out of everyone else for trampling what kindness he did have to offer. Some could argue, however, that Vanthos never really "hated" his sister, because to this day he keeps his sister's penchant tucked right next to his chest.


Pokemon Personality - a Luxray that gives off a harsh demeanor, but has a soft heart when it comes to Vanthos. Affectionately nicknamed "Yutel."
History - Vanthos and Yutel go back a long way -- six years to be exact. Yutel was found wandering the streets by the homeless Vanthos, who, as violent as he was towards Pokemon and humans alike, found some sort of connection with Yutel. Having been forcibly stripped away from his mother along with his fellow cubmates, he took to Vanthos the way a baby takes to its mother. Though Yutel has since matured, he looks upon Vanthos as a respected leader figure and a friend.

Appearance - He looks just like someone who isn't normal, but since the streets are full of them nowadays, he manages to pass unnoticed about everywhere. He always wears a sweater since he's cold everywhere. He fears the cold - which might be due to his Flygon mother. Under his sweater is a pair of Flygon wings, well hidden. God knows how he manages to fit them in there and not be hurt. Through a hole in the back of his loose jeans grows a Flygon tail. His hair is quite long and forest green, while his eyes are a light azure blue, the color seemingly made to shine in the dawn and dusk sun.
Personality - Just not the kind of person you meet everyday - he's very unpredictable. As much as he can act all serious and have full leadership, he's also the kind of person who'll just laugh with his friend at the end of the line, making everyone wait. If you laugh at him, instead of going on a fury like he can, he'll take it easy and laugh with you. His fury can be immense, but is very hard to unleash - He'll very rarely go all out on you, especially if he likes you. Since he's so bipolar, there's very few people he really can be friends with, which is why he'll never whine or shout at a friend. Likewise, he never helps anyone except his friends apart if asked to. He's very loyal and open around those he likes, while other people just get a 'nothing' when they ask 'what's up?'. He's quite lazy, but it all depends on his mood. He's very smart, but can fail understanding the most basic questions, like 'go empty the can there', there's a high chance he'll empty it somewhere else. Basically, his personality all depends on whether or not he likes you and his mood, which is why he's so unpredictable - his mood is either "feeling good", "feeling sad" (which rarely happens) or "tired" (which is the most common. People often think he's really sad, actually he's just tired) and he'll never tell you in the face if he likes you. You have to judge for yourself - he's someone very few can appreciate, but those who do appreciate him a lot.
Pokemon Personality - Quilava. As his type might represent in a way, his temper is burning hotter than the biggest of blazes and he gets offended with nothing. He's the fire - the nice fire that can heat up a room... or the violent fire that can burn a neighborhood. In other words, you never know what he's up too.
History - His father was a huge fan of the 'desert king Pokémon', or so he claimed, which is probably why he fell in love with a Flygon. After a while, they had their child. Both his parents were 'satisfied' with him, hence his status as one of the rare human-Pokémon that wasn't abandoned in the streets for some reason. He managed to live a normal life. Somehow. The rest of his life wasn't special at all, living normal, getting mocked at times - but close friends of his would protect him at all times.

Active Era - 2345, but somehow gets caught in the Victorian time machine and is brought back to 1905, ends up joining the Victorians as just a follower, kept in a pokeball occasionally.
Allegiance - Pokemon.../Victorian?
Appearance - Yeah, she's an Espeon. Doesn't get much simpler than that...
Personality - Quick and Witty, prefers to stay out of fights if at all possible.
Pokemon Personality - Has no pokemon, due to being a pokemon herself.
History - Espy's parents were killed by Humanitarians 10 years ago, back when she was still just an Eevee. She managed to hide in a corner and escape discovery, but she found the courage to evolve and join the fight - but not by fighting. Having overheard talk of the Victorians, Espy managed to sneak into the time machine with them. When they got to the other side, Espy convinced the Victorians to allow her to join their forces. It just might have to be enough...

Appearance -Seth has old raggy clothes because of coming from a family of poverty. His hair is Blond and black. He has wide blue eyes. The only thing he has left of his older brother is a sword with a pokeball emblem on it.
He usually has a sour look on his face.
Personality -Very good at pissing people off. His mouth will usually get him into shit. Arrogant and a jerk. Has a soft spot for little girls. Hates the Humanitarians.

Pokemon Personality - A Grovyle. Not well trained but a great partner. Found lying and bleeding on the floors of Veilstone near the beggining of the war.

History: At the start of the war, his brother was killed and his parents dieing of sickness. Seth was always a ass. He would mouth off to everyone including his parents. No one would ever want to be around him. Grovyle is his only true friend. Not much more is known about him.

Appearance - He has the body of a human. His face is rather flat and has 2 fangs jetting out of his mouth from his lower jaw. He is also bald with 2 small horns on the side of his head. His left arm resembles that of a Bastiodons foreleg, but with fingers. A row of spikes runs down his back. In between the shoulder blades is a pair of wings that have the appearance of Dragonite wings. He wears dark blue jeans and no shirt or shoes. He is 6'05

Personality - Echo is a loner. He dose not like to work in groups unless it is absolutely necessary. The only living creature that he accepts is a small female Shieldon named Rose. Echo sees Rose as a younger sister but periodically finds himself attracted to her. He is very sensitive towards the fact that he is part pokemon part human. He has a soft spot for small children and pokemon.

Pokemon Personality - Echo lives with a small female Shieldon named Rose. She is Timid and shy. Rose is very clingy to Echo and dose anything he asks. Rose has a crush on Echo and often finds herself daydreaming that he was a full Bastiodon.

History -Echo lived in the city with his parents for most of his life. His Father was half Bastiodon and his mother was a Dragonite. When he was hatched his, the only pokemon qualities he had were a long blue tail and hard oval shaped head. Echo was always short for his age until he was 11 when got into fight with a neighborhood bully. When the bully was about to attack, Echo went through an evolution. He evolved into what he is now. Echo then disintegrated the bully’s arm with a hyperbeam. This was the first attack that Echo had performed. Echo ran home before any more trouble started. When he arrived he found both of his parents dead. Unable to deal with the grief, echo flew to mount Coronet. He lived there for 2 years until Rose arrived. Rose use to live in a prehistoric time. She was attacked by Aerodactyl but managed to retreat to a dense forest. There she met Celebi who brought her to the year 2342. Rose was still bruised and bleeding when Echo found her. Echo had sympathy for Rose and nursed her back to health. Rose has been with Echo for 3 years. Echo and rose still live on Mount Coronet.

Name - Marco Nightshade

Appearance - Very dark-skinned, unaturally red irises, black hair, prefers to wear dark clothes. Also has an odd yellow ring symbol on his forehead, with matching yellow band on his arms and legs.

Personality - Marco prefers to keep to himself, and simply maes himself unable to be found when he doesn't want to talk. However, he is extremely loyal and when he does make friends, he guards them with his life.

History - Marco's father was half Gengar, and his moter was half Umbreon. Their traits alow Marco to simply melt into the shadows, and also explain some of his features. Marco also has limited control over shadow, and can bend and control it in small measures, such as unleashng a powerful Shadow Ball attack, and give Marco more energy under a full moon. Humanitarians kidnapped him and put him through a series of tests when he was only 6. He was eventually rescued by a rebelling Mismagius. Though severely traumatized and withdrawn after the incident, Marco and Mismagius share a close bond and work side by side out of the darkness.

Pokemon Personality - Marco's Mismagius partner, Eclipse, is rash and temper-prone, though Marco has managed to tame some of that wild spirit over the years. It guards its partner's back with the same loyalty, and they share every moment together. It, to, uses the darkness to its advantage, and a telepathic bond and sharing of personal skills with Marco allow them to help each other in battle easily. They form the ultimate spy and recoinassance team, hidden in shadow while you never know they are there.
