The GameFreak people need to get new Pokemon namers.
No offense, but I think that the English Pokemon names are getting lamer and lamer. I mean, Vulpix and Lapras were fine, they weren't really that obvious where their origin came from. Hoppip was okay, Politoed was kinda dumb. Relicanth, Grovyle, Latias--that was fine. Torchic and Luvdisc were not. And now, the fourth generation Pokemon region presents...LICKILICKY and CHINGLING! I mean, wtf?
I thought Torchic was actually decent. Chimchar, not so much if only because they already used char with mander. Pick up a Thesaurus and you'll find bake, blaze, brand, broil, calcine, cauterize, char, combust, conflagrate, cook, cremate, enkindle, flame, flare, flash, flicker, glow, heat, ignite, incinerate, kindle, light, melt, parch, rekindle, roast, scald, scorch, sear, singe, smoke, smolder, toast, torch, wither all under burn.
Incimian? Ignithrope? Monkindle? Not fantastic, but those were off the top of my head.
chimchar was actually formed from chimp + char...wasn't it?
I still think lickilicky was lame.
The only decent Pokemon names nowadays are the ones based on or actually the original Japanese names. ie Hariyama, Lugia, Buizel (not really), Dialga, Palkia...

Buizel's stupid. Buoy and Weasel? Something with Otter woulda sounded better.

When they do cool fusion things like 'Torchic', it's cool. But when they randomly string names of zoological creatures together, it's a little too displeasing to me. There could be a bit more creativity.

True, true, some of the english names could've sounded much better. I mean, fusion names are nice and all, I suppose most Pokemon have a decent name. BUT, some names seem as if there was absolutely no effort at all involved in making it. NINETALES!? My god, so pathetic, I'm not saying Ninetales itself is bad, but the name could use a makeover.

No, no, Ninetales is cool, I'm not making fun of him, Nintendo is by giving the Pokemon Ninetales a junk name.

Yeah, like Giratina. It sounds like the name of a ballerina. A better name would be like, ''Giroton'' or something to that extent.

Anyways, I would say that names in the 4rth gen are boring. Leafeon? Lickilicky? Porygon z's O.K., Because it's in the porygon family. Skuntank? Stunky? My god, Nintendo. Hire someone else!
