Well, last time I checked the Pokedex (which, btw, was a long time ago) on PD it said Lugia's Name Origin was "unknown. if you know, please contact me." or something like that.
i don't understand how lugia translates into guardian of the sea in japanese.

I think the "bulb" part referred to the "bulb" of a flower before it blooms.

Yup. I loved bunyatto, it sounded so nice to pronounce. And it's really squishy and huggable, the translator obviously didn't have a clue of what he was doing.

I would have named it "Silkeron" or something.

Unown5 I just have one question. You say that pokemon names come from words, now correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never heard of the word riz in the English language. Are you really that stupid or are you just a really good actor?
