You mean when you're in the Zao Ruins? Go after Sync first; he has the lowest HP. Put Jade, Tear and Guy up in your party, and keep Jade and Tear casting while Luke and Guy melee the shit out of Sync. If you're still having trouble, just level up on the things in the dungeon.

Also, I'm not exactly sure what the minimum level is for that boss battle. I beat that battle a few days ago myself, but I had 10x the normal exp gain. I would probably guess late teens at the minimum, but to be safe, early twenties.
Make sure you have capacity cores installed on each character. It really boosts their stats. Luke probably already has one installed because of the one Ion gave him in Cheagle Woods.
If Jade or Tear are casting weak spells that aren't helping the situation, you can modify which spells they can cast by going to Artes and clicking the square button on the spells you want to turn off.
Never mind. Switched out Jade with the princess and leveled up guy so he could stay on largo without dying while I beat the shit out of sync.
Yeah I just borrowed it from a friend. I liked Symphonia so I thought I'd give it a shot. Guy is the man. Also waiting for Tear and Luke to get together.

The game really gets interesting after you get to Akzeriuth, but until then it's a bit slow. The ending is so enigmatic yet sad

I figure that Master Van (not surprisingly) is going to turn out to be a colossal asshole and that Luke is a clone of Asch or something along those lines.

Guy's amazing; I love his voice. You can get some really cool costumes for him that make him look even better.
I can't stand Natalia though. She's so haughty and arrogant. And Mieu is just... ugh. I hate his voice.

Tales of the Abyss is not released in Europe, and I don't know if Namco has plans to release it yet. So far, it's been more than six months since it was released in America, and the more time goes by, the less likely it is that they'll publish it. Your best bet is to order it off of Ebay or the american Amazon.com.
Luke cut his hair and has made Tear blush 3 times now. Things are looking up.
